come on, be more specific Nostradumbass. That's like saying "I predict a large forrest fire in the western USA this summer."

Thanks Jeanne Dixon.

The only way merging of LLC's would be more profitable, would be if the LLC's were looking at getting rid of management during the combination.

Is that going to happen?

Why not merge all the world's governments together and save costs of management that way? Why? because it would never happen. Why would execs at one or the other airline sign their own death warrant by allowing a big merger?

just my 2 cents alaska and air tran will merge!!

I don't think they even know who we are . . . . . .

Actually, when this rumor first started surfin' (ATL speak for "surfacing") around ATL, I thought it would be OK, I would make the same there as an FO as I was making here as a junior Capt, but with a better schedule. . . . then the AK "givebacks" happened, and I know I would rather remain a 5th year Captain here than be a 5th year FO there, so let's put an end to this rumor right here and now!

One thing is certain. There is still WAY too many seats and too many carriers loosing money.

That will continue until someone goes out of business and takes a TON of seats off the market. At which point fares can start to increase, etc...

As hard as it would be for many folks, 1000 less planes flying around would be a great thing for this industry. And if oil prices continue to stay at current levels, this could happen sooner than later.

Ive heard the Alaska/AirTran rumor has gone around Alaska as well... Dont worry though Ty, if it were to happen, trust me, you will probably stay about where you are. No Alaska guy in there right mind is gonna leave SEA or ANC to come be a Cpt. in the ATL!! Of all the merger talks that have gone around though, that one would make the most sense. Similar equipment, route structors, pay, neither company likes to spend any money, both are hedged (by how much though I don't know), and it would make one hell of a company!! You would have over a billion in cash in the bank overnight.... He11, why were at it, lets make it a Alaska/AirTran/Frontier merger... Now were talking!!
