Poor flight planning ??

I actually saw this aircraft during this incident. Thought it was unusual to see a small aircraft making a climbing turn from over the city. Did not realize that he had been flying too low just before. They threw him in jail !

I was trying to be kind by stating "poor flight planning"

Since when did the state police have jurisdiction over aircraft operation and the ability to determine that the aircraft was flying too low???

The guy insn't all there. Let's break this down...

1. Flying low over New York City---after 9/11, thats not a good idea.

2. Some guy pays you to fly over the Empire State Plaza (not from NY, so some help here) to video tape the buildings----again, as a pilot being asked to do so. I would have to question Why is this guy wanting to video tape this.

3. Why is he in NY being from California? Did he fly from California to NY just for this job?

I wouldn't even consider this poor flight planning. It would fall under the category of pure stupidity.

Empire state Plaza is in Albany, NY. About 200 miles north of the empire state building and NYC.
