Poll: Readers expect to fly to New York more with JetBlue
The Business Journal of Jacksonville - 4:12 PM EDT Friday
Business Journal readers are optimistic about JetBlue Airways Corp. beginning service between Jacksonville and New York City. The most recent Business Journal poll asked if readers would fly to New York more often for business or travel since JetBlue started service.
Seventy-four percent of the 185 respondents said they would be likely to travel more with JetBlue (NYSE: JBLU) in the mix, while 26 percent said no.
Several readers who plan to fly more think the entire region will benefit.
"I plan on many trips to New York City for business and pleasure," wrote one reader. "Likewise this should be a boost for our area also with more folks being able to fly at reasonable fares."
Others are excited about the arrival of their favorite airline to town.
"Yes," wrote one reader. "I love JetBlue."
But not all the predictions were as rosy.
"JetBlue is no feather in our cap," wrote one reader, adding that John F. Kennedy International Airport is not the ideal destination in New York. "I predict they last less than a year, but I hope I am really wrong."
