So what kind of schedules does the Stansted boys end up with?

AHH, I think you are refering to Atlas... Polar does not have a Standstead domicile.. Only JFK.. As far as hiring goes, we are presently conducting classes, and rummors are that another class of 12 will be hired early next year... As some might know, Polar is in the middle of contract negotiations.. Management never paints a rozy picture during this process..Attrition is a factor.. Our pilot force is fairly MATURE and a few guys are set to RETIRE next year..Good LUCK and keep the faith

Standstead is now a base for Polar .A friend of mine interviewed with them last month....

They just interviewed a group on like the 14th of Oct. I got a call, but had some other obligations that prevented me from going (mil. duty) They were very nce and said they would be call in the future.

I think Atlas is the Stanstead base. Because AWWH owns both and the interviews are at the same place it may get a bit confusing. One thing I did notice was that the pay is quite a bit different at Atlas vs. Polar. From a money standpoint I think I'd rather be at Atlas, but I hear the work rules are better at Polar. We had an engineer interview that day for a PFE job. I haven't heard back from him yet, but he seemed happy with the way things went. Good luck to all.

What times does Polar want....A some what friend of mine interviewed with them in Oct. He said he done great and personally knows the chief pilot. Supposedly they also said he done better then most other guys in the interview as regards to flying the sim. BUt he was not offered a job. He said the reason they did not offer him a job is becuase he does not have 2500 pic in jets. He is about a 6000 hour guy ex-military jet pilot (french). Is he blowing smoke up my a$$ on this.Sounds fishy.. You,d think they would know his flight time before throwing him in the sim..

Your friend was misinformed Kilroy, single base @ PO and it's JFK. Might change after the merger, but only JFK for now.

As far as the french are concerned, they usually blow smoke up their own arse :)

Conditions at both carriers: best deal for all would be Atlas hourly pay with PO work rules.......

Also watch FOCUS (startup), they should be getting 354MC and 535MC shortly with bases on East and West Coast (you won't need to go to Stanstead). Good to see the competition growing! Amazing though that AAWH find themselves competing with carriers using the aircraft they let go: 922 and 923FT for Tradewinds, and the above mentioned with Focus......... (let's not forget Kalitta either, lol)

Holey Crap! Is there talk of a merger between Polar and Atlas? I must have stayed out of the kitchen for too long! I will keep the faith and hope to hear something!
Peace Out Ya'll!!!!!!

On the contrary, I think it's great!! Now the labor dept has to deal with ONE BIG GROUP of angry pilots instead of 2 divided ones........and it's a brand new ball game, maybe also a brand new contract good for both pilot groups with the best of both conditions in one bag........

Let's wait and see :):)

Keeping the FAITH

It's a mixed bag... The last group of new hires had various experience levels... Quite a few were from commuter backgrounds.. It all depends on what the HR people consider "COMPETITIVE" as determined in last monday's board meeting...Keep plucking away, thats all I can recommend

What are the probabilities of newhires getting on the 400 vs. the 200 in the future (say next 6 months)? Is there a seat-hold on the 200? In other words, how quickly could you get off one fleet and jump to another (say from 200 to 400)?

400 vs Classic

It all depends on poss. currently available. In the past Polar has run a class of 400 drivers followed by a Classic class. The last two classes that were hired, everyone got on the Classic. The pay is the same.. The Classic has more variety in the schedule, However the 400 is a NICE AIRPLANE..If you get on the 400, you will mostly hold a cruise pilot slot...Not too bad though, you get paid to SLEEP in the BUNK..There is a seat lock of 750 hrs. before you can bid the other type. At an average of 55 hrs of hard time a month, you'r loocking at 1 1/2 years to transition..Not too bad, time goes by fast in this business.

Yep No Dosing for dollars in the -200. However, the F/O position on the Classic is the easiest job in the fleet. It also has "Voice Activated" Auto Throttles....hehehehe!:)

Here's one for you, UPS senior management said recently that UPS was not finished with aquiring additional freight forwading companies, and there are rumors here of UPS again interested in Polar/Atlas. They are probably most interested in Polar's route authority and the -400s.
