Sorry if these questions have already been covered about Polar.

1. Is JFK the only base for Polar pilots? If not, what other bases (MIA?)?

2. Has Polar hired into the 200 or the 400 recently?

3. Is Polar doing well financially or has it had problems like its parent company, Atlas?

4. Lastly, can someone remind me about the typical monthly schedule for a newhire on either the 200 or the 400? Do they have different schedules and does one fleet offer more time off than the other?

I'll let a Polar guy answer the Polar specific questions, but I'll address the financials of Atlas World Wide Holdings.

AAWH was formed for the purpose of purchasing Polar. AAWH hired the typical airline raider and destroyer as the CEO. He did just that, and was, eventually, sent packing, but with a lot of money in his own pockets.
The Chapter 11 filing was used to reorganize the -400 leases to a post 9-11 level. AAWH, now out of Chapter 11, has a lot of business for the two different companies, who do different types of business. With that said, though, does AAWH want to continue to operate with two different certificates and two different pilot groups? I do know that Atlas Air, Inc. pilots had to pay a $60.00 merger study assessment. I know that both companies are hiring. If you go to Atlas, you'll go to London STN. If you go to Polar, you'll go to the only base, JFK.

There was a thread somewhere on here from someone who had been called for the interview and he asked which company they were hiring for and was told they were not sure...I personally would rather be on the Polar side myself.

JFK only base at PO.

Have hired on both Classic & 400 in the past depending on staffing requirements at the time. Now hiring on the Classic.

Very busy at both carriers, freight on the rise in general.

Welcome aboard to all the new hires, you'll enjoy it here.

Might see one next month, if not it'll be Jan. Typically no training during December, but I could be proven wrong....

I have had my stuff in there for over 3 months. Any idea on how many they are going to call or what the wait is? I am very interested in working for Polar. My friend there loves it!!

Do you mind elaborating a bit. What does your friend love about it? The aircraft? The schedules? The route variety?

Can someone talk more about the schedules at Polar? How many days would a newhire FO likely fly? Are schedules typically week on/week off or are they 21 days in a row like at Atlas?

I can't imagine being gone for three weeks straight - that's INSANE if you have (or want to have) a family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend schedule (usually) is two on two off. He is pretty senior so I am not sure where we woud fall in newhire wise. The are FAR better than when I was with Southern Air years ago. If you were on the AD-Hoc side, one, two, or three months out of country were normal. Especially if you were doing the UN flying in Africa. Been there, done that, got the stomach problems....
