I just saw 534MC in FULL ATLAS LIVERY, freshly painted out of the shop. This bird is a 747-200F. It also has a little sticker on the side that says "Opreated by Polar Air Cargo". If there was going to be a Polar/Atlas merger, and its suppose to be called POLAR, when its all said and done. WHY WOULD ATLAS SPEND THE MONEY TO PUT A BRAND NEW "ATLAS" PAINT JOB ON THIS PLANE????? While the rest of the Polar Classic fleet continues to fly around with peeling paint????? Hmmm, you do the math.

I gues this really bothers you, seeing that you posted this on the company forum and on the pprune boards also. You'll get your precious P in time relax;)

Really? Must have a discount on paint jobs like; NWA, DAL and UAL did.

Is it not possible to put the whole operation on the Polar certificate and still run the ACMI portion "Atlas Air Cargo (operated by PAC)" Thus the two distinct identities are preserved on the surface but operated on one certificate and under one ops spec.

Because Kalitta is going to buy Polar.

well, at least they would be thinking of the future, instead of sucking up to uncle sam and f'in up every other opportunity that comes thier way.

I hear that there's a lot of stuff coming down the road for Atlas and Polar.

HKG and AMS were buzzing a few days ago.

Is any of it true, or just crews talking trash?

Nobody knows nothing..... Lots of talk, but the real info has been kept very close. I've gotten "smiles and a wink" from a Chief Pilot (hope it wasn't something else?) that good things for Atlas are coming. Mechanics are talking about guys being signed up for 777 school.

Polar guys are sitting all over the place getting paid to sit. Whatever you believe, that can't be good, unless their in a holding pattern for more Atlas planes to come (rumours Polar is starting) or getting in position for a furlough (rumours Atlas is starting).

The word from ALPA national is the merger is going nowhere until the sale of Polar rumours are cleared up. Their not going to spend more money on it until facts are "known".

AAWH and Polar want to continue the merger process. AAWH because they like to see ALPA spin their wheels, and Polar because they want Atlas to share their pain if they reduce their fleet and manning.

Bottom line is they are probably for sale but there is a desire to continue the merger just in case it falls thru.
