So who would you like to see in the left seat of an RJ... besides mainline pilots because we know that kind of flying is below them
Minimum 3,000 hours Total Time, 1,000 Jet PIC, previous EFIS and FMS experience (preferred), previous Part 121 experience (preferred).

Basically, someone who comes from a CRM background, can be trained in just the aircraft and operations specifics, and who won't be a danger to themselves or others in a jet aircraft.

PCL mins for upgrade are pretty spot-on, TM may have been many things, but he wasn't an idiot.

3,500 hours with 1,000 turbine and/or 3,000 hours total time with at least 500 hours in the aircraft is plenty low enough.

I don't see what's wrong with the minimums right now at pinnacle. I wouldn't suggest lowering them by any means, but if you look at most of the other regionals out there, many are the same (if not lower)!
 
I think this is really good news for all. The regionals can't get qualified pilots. The FAA says they are issueing fewer pilot certificates (people don't want to get into the industry). Granted, things change slower than we'd like, but management is going to have to make some changes for the better. Pinnacle pilots may be the first to experience something positive, but I think the market is going to speak on this. Oh, and AirTran pays about $10,000 a month for 7th year captain, that doesn't sound very regional to me. :beer:
