"The plane slid off the end of the runway by a good 50 feet after the
pilot suffered the heart attack. It is still being investigated by the
FAA. It was stuck and our crews aided the recovery efforts which took
approximately 5 hours from beginning to end. This includes the lead time
to get the cranes, etc."

I was there that day. They were flying the D-NET for the postal operations. Sad day. He did his job to the very end and landed that 8 before passing. I don't think I could control my car to just stay in the lane if I had a heart attack.

many years ago.
