When I flew for a low end 135 carrier we stayed at the Comfort Inn across from the Hard Rock. It was a bit trashy, but clean enough. They had a shuttle to the strip or you can walk and 2 years ago it was $50/night. There are a couple strip clubs right there if that's on the agenda.

Just stayed at the Stratosphere last month for the weekend. Nice hotel and averaged less than 100 bucks a night.

This was a couple of years ago, but I got a room for $39 at the Circus Circus with an airline discount. OK, not exactly the spot for night-life, but you can always go hang out at the cool hotels ... just don't plan on taking anyone back to your room.

Circus Circus is a real ****hole anymore, its like walking into a 3rd world country and smells ungodly. Theres a motel 6 about a block east of MGM, rates are around 59/night.
