Does anyone know of any nice/decently priced places to stay in Vegas? Any type of airline discounts at the major hotels on the strip? Looking to go for a weekend and any ideas would be great. Thanks!

You're not going to find anyplace (nice or not) for a decent price on the weekends anymore.

The average weekend room rate for the entire year is $231 per night. You can get a deal at some of the locals casinos (Coast Casino chain, and some of the Station Casinos), but outside of that, good luck.

If you're just looking for a place to sleep, you can stay downtown for a much cheaper price than the strip.

If you want to waste a few hours at a time share, you can get free or very reduced rates at some of the nicer hotels. You just have to pretend you're interesting in buying the time share..

You may also want to try the Orleans The Orleans Hotel and Casino - Reservations . I have an Aunt that works there, so when we head out that way, that's where we stay. It's a nice casino, off the strip but they have a shuttle that goes to there other properties.

Have fun.

I'll second the Orleans, last time i stayed there was 2 years ago and I think I got a room for about $70 a night.

Lots of crews stay at Terrible's and at LaQuinta. Both near KLAS. Should be able to get a crew rate if they don't think they will sell all their rooms. DO NOT stay at Howard Johnson's near the airport.

The info desk in the terminals have a pad of maps with the location and phone numbers of just about every hotel in town.

We stayed at Maxim, one block off the strip, next to Bally's, and we paid about $80 a night a few years back. Seemed to be a good deal at the time, for being so close to the strip.. You can find a link here:

We were pretty happy with the rooms. Can't tell you if their rates are still reasonable, though. Good luck!

Maxim closed its doors a couple of years ago. It reopened last year as the Westin Casaurina. Rooms there are unfortunately rather expensive now for what you get. For a strip location, for a full ammenity place and location and relatively inexpensive rooms, check out the Flamingo. Not the greatest place you'll ever stay, but a superb location, decent rooms/casino, and awesome pool.

Also, no matter what you do, make sure to sign up for each casino's players club card whichever place you visit. It gets you into their database and before you know it, you will start to receive free/greatly reduced room offers. We haven't paid a cent for a room in Vegas in 5 years (last 3 stays were at Venetian for free) and are certainly not high rollers. Just make sure you give the hosting casino about 3-4 hours of play each day. Most offers come in off-season or non-convention/sporting event weeks. The casinos just want a chance at your bankroll during slow times. Hope this helps.
