A recent email out changing the picketing event which was to take place in front of MEM now infront of the HDQ!

The race to the bottom is officially over and the move to raise the bar has
begun! We’ve had enough of management’s foot dragging and lame attempts to stall
contract negotiations. Now we’re ready to take it to the streets.

The street in front of the corporate office to be exact.

For our Memphis Informational Picketing on December 5, the Strategic Planning
Committee is going to close one lane of Nonconnah Blvd. in front of the Pinnacle
Airlines corporate offices to conduct informational picketing and a rally.

We want every Pinnacle pilot who’s not flying that day to participate in this
event from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Let’s show our management that we’re united in
our efforts to achieve a fair and reasonable contract in a timely fashion.

At 8 a.m., vans will begin picking up participants from the baggage claim level
of the Memphis International Airport and transporting them to the Holiday Inn
Select. At 10 a.m., picketers will be transported to the Courtyard by for final
review and preparation for the picketing. The Courtyard is across the street
from Pinnacle Corporate offices and will be used as the “break and lunch”
location for participants.

Picketing will be held until about noon, at which time Capt. Duane Woerth and
other ALPA leaders will speak to the crowds and call out to Mr. Trenary to agree
to a contract that we have earned and deserve.

Picketing will continue into the afternoon. Picketers will be transported back
to the airport for departures.

We will be joined by pilots from across the ALPA family who support our efforts
to take back the professionalism that has been stripped from our careers during
the last five years.

Let’s have a good turnout of Pinnacle pilots to tell management that their
“Last, Best, and Final, no not Final, yes now its Final” offer is simply the
worst, not good enough, and will not be final for Pinnacle Pilots!

We would appreciate help from pilots from all airlines. Even if you're not ALPA, we still would appreciate the support.

:smash: Perhaps a friendly wager needs to be placed on the table. Will MEM Pilots outnumber the DTW or MSP pilots. Perhaps FEDEX will outnumber PCL.

Game on:beer:

P.S. Make friends with MPD...feed them!

Why isn't it being done at the airport? At least there are people there who maybe care (pax). Marching in front of HQ will do nothing. They know we are pissed, won't settle, etc and they could care less. They will not get a "message" from an informational picket. What are we informing the company of anyways? Hopefully there will be something at the airport as well.

Consider the FedEx picketing location and reference thier contract...

Not quite sure what you are trying to say. can you elaborate?

FedEx Pilots Plan Picketing Today in Memphis

July 21, 2005

FedEx Corp. pilots represented by the Air Line Pilots Association International will conduct informational picketing today outside FedEx Express World Headquarters in Memphis, TN, to show their frustration with the slow pace of talks, the union said yesterday.

Pilots... picketing is a political move. Demonstrating in front of HQ has a pyscological effect. It works. The airport works well, however when you bring the fight to managements house it speaks volumes. Management has been speaking to the issue via thier newsletters, press annoucements and poor treatment of its pilots.

Now is the time... If you are not a PCL pilot it is still in your best interest to show up. PCL Managements success here will be your managements playbook when they come after you....

If you are a PCL pilot there are very few reasons not to show up. If you have family plans.. break them. Otherwise the status quo is acceptable. If you want a better life for you and your family then what is 8 hours of your time. You cannot write this event off thinking another pilot will show up instead. That mentality is self defeating.

An amazing thing is happening nationwide. All pilots of all airlines are coming together in support of each other. Despite the loose organization of the ALPA MEC's pilots are realizing that what happens at one airline effects everyone. Thus, everyone is getting involved.

Attending a picketing event is an empowering experience.....

First of all, the pax don't care as long as they can continue to pay $25 to go from MEM to FLL. That aside, the major problem with picketing the MEM airport is that the local authorities in the south aren't exactly labor friendly. They allow only 6 pilots to picket at any given time. That wouldn't be worth it.

They know we are pissed, won't settle, etc and they could care less.

Actually, you would be surprised. The MEC met with senior management (including uncle Phil) at our last MEC meeting. Uncle Phil told us that he has been frequently traveling around the system on the flight deck jumpseat and talking with crews. He claims that all of them are happy and have stated that they are not pissed. Of course, you and I know that this is to be expected because very few pilots will tell Phil to his face what they think of him and his tactics, but Phil is just naive enough to believe that the pilots are being honest with him. He truly does believe that the pilots are happy and that the MEC doesn't speak for the majority.

This picketing event right in front of his office window will make the truth very clear to him. If we can get 100+ pilots lined up in front of his big picture window with picket signs, then there will be no denying how the pilot group feels.

Another advantage is that Phil takes all of this extremely personally. He doesn't think of this as "just business." His reputation in Memphis is the only thing in the world that matters to him. If we can begin to embarrass him in his home turf, then it will be motivation to get this wrapped up. This picketing event is only the beginning of what we can do to stir things up in his home town, and he knows it.

He should challenge him to a Steel Cage Match

How about his house, country club, cardiologist and where ever his wife hangs out?

Because the Memphis Airport Gestapo will only allow 5 or 6 picketers across the drive from the entrance. This is a plantation mentality town that thinks that any 10K a year supervisor is on a higher social strata than a 100K pilot who is merely labor. Now go eat your half bowl of gruel and be damned happy we even feed you!

Good luck 9E from an Ex-XJer. I sure hope you can make some improvements where you want and that NW doesn't have "impending doom plan 56-c" in the works. They bested XJ twice with em. Go get what you deserve.

Can we make sure that Uncle Phil and his clan wil be there to see all this if a bunch of purple tails show to help out. Id love for him to walk out to go to lunch and not be able to turn onto Nontgonnapayyouanymore Pkwy bc we are all blocking his route. Just a question.....

The picketing in Memphis was a resounding success. Many people showed up after it started and were not on the sign in sheet, at least 225-250 total. Huge support from other regional and major airlines! 40 foot inflatable rat pointed at the CEO's office. As one of the original organizers for ALPA here back in 87, what a grand sight to see!! Huge group of DTW pilots flew in to march in the front yard!! My batteries are recharged now...I'm more ready for the fight than ever!!

To all the nay sayers,, you lost this bet.

To all the pilots from other carriers who walked with us
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

You're welcome from the three XJT'ers who were in attendance (including me). Yeah, the cocco and cookies thing plus the "Welcome Pinnacle Pilots" banners on ya'lls HQ was like a slap in the face. I saw Comair, ASA, UPS, Champion Air, Fedex, Mesaba, CAL, Delta, United, NWA, a SWA FA!. I think that's it, who else came?

I was there today, and at least 10-15 other FedEx guys. As was mentioned, there were all kinds of airlines represented, very impressive to see.

Best of luck to you guys and hopefully you'll get a contract soon. If not, we'll see you at the next picket.

A wonderful event!!! It far exceeded even my most optimistic expectations. 200 pilots from nearly a dozen airlines, not to mention the giant rat! My thanks to our pilots and the pilots from all airlines that showed up to offer us support. This is what unionism is all about.

Sorry I couldn't make it...was my last day of reserve and I got nailed for a trip...next time.

We would appreciate help from pilots from all airlines. Even if you're not ALPA, we still would appreciate the support.

Hell I would've worn my old Pinnacle uniform and JOIN YA!!!! GET YOU GUYS PAID!!

Pinnacle Pilots: Taking It to the Streets

From the www.alpa.org

Nearly 200 pilots, flight attendants, and one giant rat shut down a major business route in front of the Pinnacle Airlines company headquarters in Memphis, Tenn., to demonstrate against management’s greed and unwillingness to negotiate a contract that recognizes the pilots’ contribution to Pinnacle’s continual profits.
Management’s unwillingness to negotiate a strong scope agreement and pay rates, along with work rules that respect a pilot’s time away from work, are major issues still on the table.
“I am tired of looking at captains who haven’t gotten a pay raise in two years,” said Captain Wake Gordon, Pinnacle MEC chairman. “And when our pilots spend time with their families on their days off, they want to be left alone and don’t want to be constantly called by scheduling.”
Representatives from more than a dozen airlines, including two non-ALPA carriers, were on hand for this historical event – Pinnacle’s first informational picketing event in Memphis. Speaking to the group through a bull-horn, ALPA’s president, Capt. Duane Woerth, stressed the importance of being a part of an international union, something that airline managements don’t understand. “It’s not something you hire – it’s something you are,” he told the pilots.
With a large inflatable rat provided by the Laborer’s Union looming over the demonstration site, representatives from ASTAR, Atlantic Southeast, Champion, Comair, Continental, ExpressJet, FedEx, Mesaba, Midwest Express, Northwest, Southwest, United, and UPS loudly agreed with the speakers that they had had enough: “Enough of management greed, enough of crew scheduling messing with their days off, and enough of management using the court system to get from pilots what management can’t get at the negotiating table.”

Also a little video clip as

Nice write up in the Commercial Appeal today as well. Picture and everything. Love the giant rat. X XJer wishin ya'll well, I would've gone, but no more pilot uniform.

Good Luck

Great pictures on the alpa home page. Love the giant rat!
Looks like it was a very successful event. Just hope you are not doing it 18 months from now.
I saw the event in Minneapolis last month; the 9e group and their SPC is coming together nicely. We never had an event this strong while in our section 6 two years ago....

I dream of a white christmas, and of a SOS by both airlink carriers sometime in 07, if even for only two hours...come on Wychor and Gordon, get it done!
