I received an offer from Pinnacle this morning for a class date after I graduate from UND in May. Also, ASA called and left a message to set up a phone screen. I am not really sure which is going to be a better choice. Any input is appreciated.

I would go with ASA.

Well, judging by the way the company is negotiating with the pilots at ASA, we could well be shut down by the time you graduate. However, I'd do the phone screening and even an interview with ASA in any case just for the practice. Worst case, you come to ATL and they let you play with the CRJ sim for 30 minutes.
Good luck and congrats on graduating.

Pinnacle Airlines has given you an opportunity to be a CRJ captain with only 3300 hours, yet all you do on this site is bash your own company. Last time I checked, the chief pilot is not holding a gun to your head and forcing you to stay, so if you don't like it here, then why don't you do us all a favor and get the $%^# out!!!!!!!!!

SJS strikes again. Talk to me again in a few years and we'll see how grateful you are for this place.

if i am not grateful for this place in a couple years, I wont be here. Unlike you, and I don't have shiny jet syndrome like you had when you graduated gulfstream

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you, because I'm sure I would have said the same stuff when I was a new FO at this company. Like I said, talk to me again when you've been here four years and we'll just see if you don't sound just like me, Lear70, dondk, and the rest.

Either place you're going to be right seat for a number of years. Both are in negotiations... both have crappy mgmt. Wait... I've just described every regional out there.

A regional is pretty much a regional. I had a friend that went to comair earlier last year instead of pinnacle, much against my advice and to the advice of people on here. Now he's on the street. Do the research... there are going to be whiners everywhere. The key thing is to make the best of it and get as much out of the company as you can.... I certainly have.

Is your friend coming back to Comair? We are recalling all the pilots now. Did he find soemthing new? trying to see how many people might jsut say
F#@%$ IT and aren;t going to come back?

You should know...You paid to get into the game. Your opinion hasnt meant anything sense.

The only decent aviation job out here now that you can get right out of college is air traffic control with the FAA. That's just my opinion.

PCL_128, if you are unhappy, would you be happy if you were fired or let go?

I've been here 5 years, I can't go any where else and make 70K. I'm also happy. Am I afflicted by SJS? Or am I a realist because I know that right now I (and most of the CA's here at Pinnacle) can't go some where else and make 70K, and don't spend every waking moment finding ways to be angry at the company?

I'm not pro-management be any means, but that doesn't mean I have to be anti-everything about the company.

My god, can we stay on topic? UND wanted info and instead threw a steak in to the dog pit, geez!

UND, both places are good for for getting in to the industry, however, I think ASA would be better for the longer term and unless you have close ties at CAL you'll need a place that pays FO's after their first year. ASA is about $10 more an hour after year 1. PCL did have a quick upgrade but that has come to a screeching halt. Upgrade at either company will most likely be about 4 years or more. I hesitate to give Skywest credit, but credit is due. They have done a pretty good house cleaning since the beginning, however, there is more to go! The sense I get from my buds at PCL is that it is the same old "dog and pony show." In other words, not much progress.

You also need to think about where you want to live because commuting sucks!!!! I suggest going to airline pilot central and continue to talk to people at both places to get the facts. PM me if you'd like.

You should be EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to Pinnacle Airlines. They hired you from GIA when you were minimumally qualified at best with 400 hours, and let you fly a brand new CRJ. You gained some excellent experience and got to upgrade to Captain as soon as you met the minimum qualifications. And now the Pinnacle job is going to flow you through to NWA (at least you hope). You should be EXTREMELY THANKFUL to Pinnacle and the opportunity you had. Instead, you get on here and bash Pinnacle every chance you get. That makes it VERY hard to respect you or what you have to say.

UNDPilot,
you will not get a type in the crj going to flagship but youwill get a sic type rating, EVERY f.o (who flys international, canada , mexico included) needs to now get the sic type rating . new icao thing., it will happen in either initial or recurrent. will the sic type help you in the industry , crap no, but it will prove to businesses further down the line that you had the ability to make it through... GO TO ASA, i know tons of peeps that i gradutated with me from und also that went to pinnacle and hated it. i'm not into bashing any airline even mesa, but there isn't much expansion at flagship, its the attrition that is driving their hiring. as a potental employee you need to as yourslef hte important question why is the attrition level so high. ASA is a decent company problems to say the least with their contract but by may i would think they would have them sorted out. i have friends at both comair and asa, and the ones at asa like it better than comair partially becuase the stability that is associated to skywest (asa's parent company)

Go back to school and do something else!

Definitely do not come to Pinnacle unless you want to live in MSP, MEM, or DTW.

ASA second year is 34-37 an hour. We are 24 an hour and third year is 29.

You can't survive as an FO here and you will be an FO for a long time. Our contract also has us flying for free every trip (trip value system and not block or better).
