Too Late Pal, you just busted your first interview by posting anything here about your visit, especially naming the guy!! Geez, what do you think may be going through his head when he reads this post? "Boy I really need to hire this guy" he is surely going to handel cockpit stress well! Ya Right!

Start over and learn from the people here and your experiences young man....keep your emotions in check especially on this forum, its the fastest way to end any chance of getting hired......


If you are going to be a PRO-PILOT, then you had better learn to stay calm, cool and un-excited, especially in this community of aviators. The skin must get alot thicker!

Stay cool and clam, just like you right? I think blowing the Pinnacle interview might have been the best thing that could happen for his career. By the way, you're kind of a dick...young man.

I met this Capt at an Air Inc seminar and then saw him again at a Pinnacle interview. Seemed like a good guy to me.

Maybe the truth is that Pinnacle made the right call......

I thought for about a week or so if I should post a reply. Yep.. This is Scott Miller of PCL.

First, thanks to all who posted their support. Its appreciated. Also I appreciated the amount of supportive emails I got from folks that know my email address.

Now... to the matter at hand. Im not about to apologize for or justify any of my actions. I am sorry that an individual who interviewed with me so badly misinterperted the process. I never saw the original post, but heard enough about it to know that a serious lack of communication occured that I wasn't aware of at the time.

When I was based in MEM I used to interview every week. But now that I am based in MSP I only interview a select group of candidates in a very tightly controlled setting. It's pretty easy for me to figure out who this disgruntled person is.

I'm a pilot myself. I had to sweat interviews like everyone else. Basically, for me, if someone makes it in front of me s/he has already proven they can at least do the job. I have a very limited amount of time to determine not only is this person really ready for this job, but would I want my fellow crewmembers to depend on this person to do the job and make it enjoyable while preserving the highest standards of safety, comfort, and efficiency for crew and pax.

Some people manage to talk themselves out of a job. Either lack of technical knowledge, inability to take instruction, general attitude or a combination of all the above typically leads to an unsuccessful result.

I can understand why someone would want to lash out in a situation like this. I hope this particular individual has reconsidered his approach and is looking inside himself and trying to identify his areas of weakness, hopefully with the goal of trying to improve. I welcome his re-application in a year, if he chooses to do so. I would hope he is successful at that time.

350Driver, first off you don't have a clue who I am. I have yet to have any other airline interview anywhere else since I have been flying at EXA/PCL. I got competitive for a major interview in spring of 2001. It's all about timing. I will get mine. But, if you base your opinion of someone you have never met off of an anonomous (sp) internet posting, a post written in the grip of emotional distress, then there's more than one person in this string who needs to do some self-awareness checking.

I too interviewed with PCL for a dispatch position last year, it was a tough interview, the only interview I have ever had that I knew right then, that It did not go well. It's all a learning process, even thought I felt totally prepard and capable for the job

We all learn from our experiences, and I commend you for your thoughtful post on this matter.

Please do not "LIGHT ME ON FIRE" just seeking some good advice.

Just had my first "airline interview" and it was anything but stellar. My question to you guys is this normal practice at airlines, and if so, how do you battle through to come out ahead ie.. get a job. Or perhaps some of you Pinnacle guys out there can shead some light on this Captain. I am not saying that I am a 100% interview material, I know that I need to work on this part of the job, just need some tips.
