OK, maybe i don't get it. Should we just fly our Saabs until they rust in half?

Would you care if we got more SF-34's? More routes with smaller planes?

We have picked up many more routes for United. Does this make you angry?

So we got a big turbo prop...do you want to fly it? Fine, I don't want it anyway. Passed my number a long time ago. Oh, and I voted yes, so don't throw that at me. Your MEC is like a damn baby. He sends letters asking me not to get angry, well then leave me out of it.

Anyway, good luck with your, oh yeah, our parent company. I've met them and I can see why you don't like them, but if you want our support, picket at your own base...

More proof that alcohol abuse and computers don't mix.

Think you need to relax, they don't want to fly the Q, they want a new contract. They are frustrated that management at Pinnacle claims they can't afford pay raises yet can throw millions into th Q. They deserve a new contract, and while they are protesting the Q, they are not briging you into anything....

We have no complaint with you or the Colgon pilot group. Our complaint is with Corp. They bought the Qs and they will profit from them and that is who we are picketing against. Our contract with Pinnacle is very clear on scope. What we want is all of the pilots to be on the same seniority list. We also want all the pilots to be working under a fair contract that raises the bar for everybody.
I will be there on Monday feel free to come over and talk to us.

i agree, they do need a better contrat, but why picket in ewr, why not msp or mem? that's where their people are. who are they trying to inform?

They've been there, done that. like I said, the company says they are poor and can't afford pay raises, but new Q's are being flown out of EWR. You bet Pinnacle management will be in EWR on the 4th. That's why they are there.

They went out of their way to send a message to 9L pilots about it and why it's happening. Why would they do that if it was about you?

Us picketing sends uncle Phils Blood pressure threw the roof. We do picket in MSP, MEM, DTW, LAN, ATL. and any were else we can get the publics attention and press releases that the company will be forced to respond too. Pinnacle and Colgon are two sets of step children put under the same roof. We are sorry your pilot group got dragged into this but we had no control over that any more than you did. However if the two groups stick to geather we have more to gain and less to lose than management. It is easer for us to find equil or better jobs than for a three time loser like Phil or a mechanic like Doug. What we really want for the Q's is for you to be paid the same as any other 70 seat aircraft.

fair enough, i take it all back. well most of it. but we don't like or want to be in the middle of this. we didn't want to be bought, and it's a shame we needed deeper pockets to get the Q. CAL has been pestering us for something bigger right after we got on our feet in IAH. though as a pilot group, no one was really thinking past the saab. it's always been a time in and get out place.

if i'm still here when the vote comes again, i'll vote yes like i did last year. but like me, a lot of our guys are in the dark about your history. you have our emails, give us the background.

Here it is....

From the ALPA Colgan Pilot email list that was sent out 01/31/2008 via the PCL MEC:

Dear Colgan Pilot:

This message is to inform you that Pinnacle pilots will conduct informational picketing at the Newark airport on Monday, February 4, to protest our holding company’s (Pinnacle Airlines Corp) Q-400 launch at Colgan and our management’s intransigence at the bargaining table.

We are notifying you of this event in advance to make clear that the picketing is in no way directed against you, the Colgan pilots. We are picketing to bring the public’s attention to Pinnacle management’s refusal to accept a fair working agreement for Pinnacle pilots, including the refusal of the Pinnacle holding company to agree to provisions that would protect our two pilot groups from being whipsawed against each other. ALPA and the Pinnacle leadership will not succumb to these management tactics.

We will continue to work hard at the negotiating table, with the assistance of the National Mediation Board, and through all available means to attain a fair new contract that is worthy of a professional pilot.

Some Colgan pilots have expressed an interest in joining us in the informational picket at Newark because they wish us well and understand that they have a stake in our success. We appreciate this outreach. However, because Colgan pilots do not have any contractual protection against discipline, it is, unfortunately, not advisable for them to join us.

We appreciate your support of our efforts to attain a fair new contract.

Fraternally,
xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx, Chairman
Pinnacle Master Executive Council
Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l

Funny how this coincides with the 1 year anniversary of the ALPA drive at Colgan and now it has come to this. Was this seen somewhere in a crystal ball somewhere last year?

Good luck to the PCL group. You're gonna need it.

Is there anyone actively courting ALPA for another drive? Is there any shot at organizing unless some people step up and organize it?

I don't understand informational picketing. The public doesn't care at all about us. They want cheap fares and safe travel that is on time. They care about as much about us as we care about the person working at Mcdonalds.

Yea I totally agree Suupah!!

The word informational and picketing just doesn't go........It's kind of like going down on a date then having the nerve to put on the Trojan AFTER !!!!!!!

I'll go a step further and say that informational picketing makes us look like a bunch of whiners. I remember feeling that way when i would see pilots picketing before i was in the industry.

I'm merely suggesting that we need to think about the audience before we do things like picketing. When they see us complaining about 18k a year salary their natural response is.....do something else you idiot.

Until there is a strike and people can't get from point A to B, nobody will give a crap unfortunately.

zakly, ezakly. It looks to me like a war dance or a shot across the bow. But in and of itself not really useful.

Seems to me if pilots don't show up to picket the message to management: our pilots won't show up to strike....

Said another way: You can't win games if you don't show up to practice.
