anybody have any news about pinnacle classes.
I am waiting & waiting for call from them.
please any updates.....

Hiring and classes are running..... New bid shows plenty of new-hire slots. The last class that started, that I know of was Today... Sounds like we are planning on running quite a few.

What are the junior bases at pinnacle?

How long is the reserve wait?

Are there any systems questions on the interview?

Junior bases in order are DTW, MSP, and MEM

Reserve:

MEM- Guys right out of OE were getting lines....with NWA eliminating the 4th bank of flights, I'd expect reserve to lengthen there.

DTW- Junior base, but a long reserve wait...right now I'd say the average is about 8-10 months.

MSP- Lines are going relatively junior, I don't know how long the reserve time is there though. Mabye a MSP guy could chime in...

No systems question on the interview that I know of.... Basic IFR knowledge and HR questions...

Good Luck

know the ATP stuff, that is on the test, and that is what more than enough get eliminated from. Questions are the same just about every other regionals HR questions are like...

I agree with T-gates.. although I wil add DTW "was" 14 months and currently just about 10 months. MSP was 4 months but is still increasing as many of the new hires are heading to MSP. MEM.. too soon to say, but I would agree to see double digits in reserve there real soon...

The class sizes vary from 8-12 every two weeks.. Estimate about 6-8 weeks from the offer until a class date. I would also suggest that you stay on top of whomever hired you, that phone call is only going to keep you fresh in their minds when they create the class roster...

The next class I know of is in the second week of November (6th or 8th) and I think it is already filled.

Are they using ATP written material? I thought that it was the commercial written.

The reserve times in all domiciles change constantly. It all depends on where you get hired in each "hiring cycle" If you get hired at the right time you may only be on reserve for a month or two, but if you get hired at the end of a cycle, it may be a year on reserve. There is just no way to accuratly predict what reserve times will do in the future.

Yea, it is the ATP stuff with some Instrument thrown in for good measure...

I agree with JJJ, it is really cyclic although I think the MEM short reserve is a thing of the past and the lenghty DTW will go short (they are due)...

Question for T-Gates:

Is that purple dinosaur supposed to be "Barney?" I'm talking about the Barney of PCL in MEM.

Suuurrre T, of course the thought of being "spanked" by Barney (daily) never entered your mind...

Talked with Stephanie today, she's primarily occupied with gearing up the F/O hiring EVEN MORE than they're currently going. Add to that the job postings for both CRJ Sim and Ground instructors on ClimbTo350.com earlier this week, and it'd be a safe bet to say they're going to start churning 'em out. Just wish they'd do the same thing with CA classes...

Junior bases? God only knows what January will bring. Between the unfortunate goings-on with the Avros (God I hope that doesn't happen) and the elimination of the flying in MEM, who knows what the "marketing plan" will say to do next.

Out of curiousity, how many total pilots are there at Pinnacle? How many have been hired in the past 3-4 years? In other words...what is the seniority look like over there? Thanks!

GJ

We have just short of 700 pilots. 160 have been here over four years.

So, would you guys like to have 1 list with NW?

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

George, to answer your question a little more specifically:

We have been hiring about 150 a year the last 3-4 years. The top 150 guys have been here 4-7+ years (some 10 to 14) and are (with a handful of exceptions) all Captains.

The next 100 guys (150-250) have been here 4-5 years and are almost all Captains.

The next 100 guys (250-350) have been here 3-4 years and half are Captains, half have the time and are awaiting upgrade. This is the seniority range the upgrades have been going to the last few vacancies

The next 100 guys (350-450) have been here 2-3 years (including myself) and a few here and there are Captains, either by hiring into the seat or upgrading as an occassional fluke because more senior people didn't yet hold the time or didn't want to bid away from the Saab (and have to go to DTW or MSP). Most of these guys now hold the time and are awaiting upgrade.

The last 200+ guys are all f/o's. Some hold the time, some don't. How many of these upgrade before we get the last of the jets presently allocated is dependent on who holds the time and submits the bid. We're currently running a staffing ratio of about 4 crews per a/c. 129 a/c = 516 Captains, 516 F/O's (assuming even staffing. If we get more jets, you can adjust those numbers using that 4 crews per a/c staffing ratio). So assuming everyone at the top of the list will hold the time and upgrade, most everyone hired from here on out is looking at sitting as an f/o for several years.

THAT'S why F/O pay is on the top of the list for the next contract (our own CEO agreed that our F/O's are woefully underpaid); if it's tied to 60% of Captain pay for longevity, a 1st year F/O would start out around $30k and would go up from there (depending on what we negotiate next contract). Not great, but certainly liveable for most people as a first step after instructing or one of the schools like GIA, etc.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My esteemed General Lee (I AM a Southerner after all), the answer to your question depends on who you ask.

A lot of our senior guys have said "No" to this discussion before (I'm still trying to figure out why).

If they put up fences (seat locks) on everyone for 3-5 years so that no furloughs or seat displacements would occur, made it TRULY one list, and we got the associated pay and scheduling rules that go with NWA's contract, I don't see why ANY pilot would say no.

It's a win-win for the pilot groups, a lose-lose for management, so as someone said previously, don't bet the farm on it.

They were probably saying "no" to the onelist before because no mention was made of seat locks or fences, until now.

Hope they keep hiring so you guys can get off reserve! Two years of it was enough for me, especially that inhumane @#%$!(*& airport reserve!! Cheers!

one list with seat locks would be good for every one. From work rules to retirement. There would be no scope, NWA could get as many RJ's as they want, and furloughees would be back to work in short order.
