ALPA shut down all administrative functions when the staffers went on strike. I believe the APA is continuing to operate as usual in spite of the strike. ALPA expedited talks and gave in on a whole host of issues. It was pretty amicable the whole time. The staffers got pay raises and significant other improvements after only a few short days on strike. I was impressed with ALPA's handling of the issue.

But they had to strike to get those improvements...
Only proves ALPA is in it for themselves.

Who said anything about screwing anyone? Is sharing in the pain their revenue source is experiencing(the pilots) a screwing?

Yes, in fact, it is. Just like it was a screwing for pilots to take paycuts. Reducing the wages of the staff will do nothing to improve your profession, and will likely end up harming dues revenue since losing experienced staffers will lead to fewer gains in pilot wages in the future.

They only work a 4 day work week as well, am I correct?

Many of the staffers can be away from home for a week or more at a time.

I am sure it is not hard to fill ALPA clerical positions.

You would be wrong. The experience that many of the staffers have is invaluable. You can't just replace someone that has 25 years of experience in ALPA union work.

Just like everybody tells us, if we are not satisfied with our jobs then find another right? I mean is that not what our illustrious management teams tell us? While our upper management get millions in bonuses to "retain talent" we pilots are just a dime a dozen, and quite easily replaced, no different than ALPA clerical staff.

Do you want to be just like your management team? Do you want to rape the people that are working hard for you? I know I don't.

no.... it shows that ALPA is part of the CBA process. Would you rather ALPA deny collective bargaining?

funny..... the APA is ok, gov't is ok, mangmnt is ok.....but not bad ALPA

Yeah, that's smart. Screw the staffers who make your union run. I'm sure that will work out well for you.

....then why did the ALPA staffers have to go on strike? Obviously labor can't get everything it demands....There are limits....Even within ALPA....

Rez....you never answered how this APA situation is different than the ALPA staffers going on stike....You posted this thread to make APA look bad...yet the ALPA staffers actually went on strike against ALPA....How is this different?

pro bono work for F&H?

...are you referring to me?

This is your thread....where YOU try to make your fellow APA union members look bad because they have staff members picketing.....never mind the fact that ALPA staff employees actually went on strike against ALPA....

What was the point of this thread that YOU started? How is this different than the actual strike of ALPA employees against ALPA?

Take off the pom-poms Rez and answer the tough questions.....You are blinded by your almost religious faith in ALPA....

Sweet mercy!

You honestly, sincerely, don't get it!

All this time I thought you were just being a doosh. Now I realize you REALLY don't get it.

You're not just a whiny "victim", you're a clueless parasite.

That's sad.

I apologize for being so harsh to you. Had I known you were "Special", I would've been kinder.

Rez, Lay off Short Bus.

Why should alpa staff "share the pain"? They weren't dumb enough to sign up to work for an airline- you were.

And what makes you think they would stay? They can all probably make more money working somewhere else.

So can ANY rj pilot and also any major FO. So whats your point? And you ask why staffers should share in the pain? Well how about the fact that ALPA's revenue source(pilots) is down thanks to fewer pilots and utterly atrocious contracts!
