Not too many "majors" (the historical definition) were mentioned as wearing wings on the shirt, but you guys have mentioned a lot of other airlines. Don't they dig into your chest with the seatbelt shoulder harness on?
And speaking of lame "traditions"... We have a Wings Ceremony at Fedex during Basic Indoc. The CP gives you your wings. (Which I suppose is nice for him to take the time to do so.) Of course, all this is before you pass training! I guess it is a military thing, but only flight attendants have wing ceremonies in the airline world.
"I like wearing the wings on the shirt. Differentiates between the multitude of dudes wearing black pants with gold stripes."
If the passengers can't figure out you're the pilot because there aren't any wings on your shirt... well, I guess those are the people we do the seatbelt demo for, the kind that probably shouldn't be out in public anyway.
And what's up with these guys going to the grocery store in full uniform?? Saw one the other day in MEM, a Pinnacle guy. At least lose the epilauttes and tie! And we weren't even near the airport!
