Obvisouly not a life changing issue, but I was wondering what regionals are not so darn cheap and wear wings on their pilot shirts. I know most wear wings on their jackets, but who wears them on their shirts as well, like most majors do.

independence air - wings on shirt (always have). looks nice yes...pain in the tail at o'dark thirty getting dressed - yes.

ASA, wings and name tags on the shirt. Much more professional looking.

Personally I think wings on the shirt is alittle much. White shirt, eppulets, dark navy blue pants and black shoes - nice and simple is the way it should be. Hat, tie and blazer optional.

to answer your question though, I think xjet/coex has them on thier shirts but not metal they are sewn on like the polo horse guy.

We have wings on the short sleeved shirts at XJT. Some people wear real metal wings and others have the embroidered wings on the shirt.

And you ASA guys wear the hat too!! Even in summer?! Geeeez...LOOK OUT!

I don't know about those embroidered wings. Kinda cheezy, just like the hat.

Eagle wears wings on their shirts.

"Wings are lame... Of what useful purpose do they serve?"

Tradition.

I was kinda bothered on the first day of class the director of training threw our wings and eppaulets (i can't spell) at us. We didn't even get a handshake or welcome aboard after the checkride, while the FA class had an elaborate graduation ceremony.

They were all waitresses 4 weeks before! It took us years and ten's of thousands of dollars to even become qualified for an interview.

That bothers me to this day. I don't think we need a graduation ceremony but . . . you know what I mean.

They GAVE you epaulets?!?!?

We didn't get the Director of Training, we got a nice lady from some office (I think it was the office of We Reject All Expense Reports) walking down the center of the room placing wings on the ends of the tables. If I recall correctly, she said, "Take one, pass the rest down. If you want a hat insignia, e-mail me after you buy the hat." (I e-mailed her last month. She delivered as promised.)

At some point after that, they started having some sort of ceremony to give out wings. It must be on a non-paid, day off, I dunno. :)

We still have to buy our own epaulets, though. OH, the injustice!

:)

Can those of you that wear your wings on your shirts get through the Metal Detector? I would hate to get extra screening every morning just because of my metal wings on my shirt...........................The things we go through :(

"They GAVE you epaulets?!?!?"

That was the deal maker for the 16 year "no-strike" contract we signed in '97.

Union- "16 year 'no-strike' contract!?! not in your wildest dreams!!"

Company- "OK you got us.... how about we throw in some free epaulets?"

Union- "Deal!"

That's what I figgered. Lousy contract!

More like lousy union.

When I was at Corpex some people wore wings and some didn't.
Most everyone had wings on there coat, but not on the shirt.
If you wanted another set of wings you had to pay 10 bucks.

I have some friends that live out in New Mexico and do quite a bit of jumpseating on Mesa's B1900's. The Air Midwest pilots don't have coats or wings.. Hell half of them didn't wear ties. I guess they really don't care, it's hot as hell out there in CNM.

It's funny how some companies have different rules when it comes to uniforms.

We get one set of wings issued, if you're clever you can scam two sets for both the shirt and the jacket.

And now the thread embarks on the dreaded Mesa windbreaker. I saw a guy in DEN the other day with a backpack, windbreaker, and shoulder length curly hair. This was crowned by -shocker- a uniform hat that looked like it had been to 'Nam and back. I had to restrain my laughter. I can at least understand the desire to be incognito, but thats just bizzare. Looked like a homeless guy that mugged a taxi driver.
