Just curious what are some pilot stereotypes out there?

they are cheap (stealing off the breakfast buffett)

they dress like serious dorks (short sleeve shirts with jackets, black sneakers or Dr Maartens with uniform)

I once read where a disporportionate percentage of pilots were either only or first-born children and/or left-handed. Me, I was the oldest child and I'm left-handed. What about the rest of yoose guys???

college degree

They think a college degree has something to do with flying.

Hopelessly flawed

Most people I meet instantly peg me for a pilot.

They say pilots are always good looking, charming, well-read, in great shape, honest, color within the lines, great dressers and dancers, fluent in numerous languages and can calculate the tip in their heads.

<blush>

i am not an only or first child nor am i left handed. does that mean i wont succeed a a pilot? :( lol

Most pilots are obsessed with porn! Ever wonder why there were so many adult book stores near airports? There's your answer.

haha thats funny

me too

first born, left handed. Interesting statistic, first borns made up something like 40% of the US male population back in the mid sixies, but made up like 75% of the pilots in Navy flight Training. (Those are guessimate numbers, but the radio some something like that)

Its funny cause I can walk into a bar or hotel lobby and pick out a pilot just by looking at there forehead. Theres a big Stamp on it that says "Pilot" or..... "D1ckhead".:D :D :D Also... the porn part is true.

alcoholics. Pilots are always alcoholics. I hear that a lot. Also I was always told pilots have to be great at math. In highschool everyone told me if i wanted to be a pilot I had to take all the advance placement math classes. I never did and have yet to see a need for it. Maybe it is because I am not sitting right seat in a heavy yet.

Pilot Stereotypes...

...we're overpaid (and viewed as glorified blue collar bus drivers to the managment type folks)...we have an "easy life"....we get divorced a lot...we're smart...we all are flying "commercially" (to the public that means heavy iron for a part 121 airline) or aspire to...that we must have a death wish/daredevil attitude for flying those dangerous "little" (meaning anything not heavy jet/121) airplanes-and therefore deserve ridiculous life insurance premiums...that we came from the military...that we have a great job ( I still believe that one).

I don't know a few off the top of my head I've seemed to encounter. Who knows just a first born right hander's experience.

mmmmmmmmmmm porn

I like to watch porn at a bar, does that count!!

First born, right handed but left footed. How about that for screwed up.
Born first, left handed, right eye dominant.

Here's one, you make $200K+ right out of flight school.

I'd like to think that pilots aren't alcoholics, merely Professional Drinkers, who are good at it.;)
