Is that a stereotype or the truth?Ailerongirl said:That they are all cheaters....
Same here...I just know I'm gonna regret some day being at FL330 and won't be able to figure out the area of an octagon....im so fukcedLewisU_Pilot said:alcoholics. Pilots are always alcoholics. I hear that a lot. Also I was always told pilots have to be great at math. In highschool everyone told me if i wanted to be a pilot I had to take all the advance placement math classes. I never did and have yet to see a need for it. Maybe it is because I am not sitting right seat in a heavy yet.

I'd like to hear more on this. I can do basic math but throw some letters in there and things start to go downhill. I haven't had any problems yet!pilotyip said:We give a mini SAT type test during our interview process. The one consistence predictor on a pilots succession our training program is the score on the math portion of the test. If a candidate scores low on the test, they have more repeat training events that the candidate who score high on the test. I am not sure why this is, other than maybe a math background leads to organized problem solving?
I've heard of other outfits doing that as well. Honestly, I don't see how advanced math enters into the picture - we're hired to fly them, not design them. I'm what you'd call your basic math dummy - one of those guys that never took any math higher than high school geometery and college algebra. I have told those who have asked that they should take as much math as they can handle.pilotyip said:...The one consistence predictor on a pilots succession our training program is the score on the math portion of the test. That's not a stereotype, that's just the truth.CatYaaak said:Whiners.
