When you tell someone who you do not know that you are a pilot, what do they ask? "What airline do you fly for?" So, the general public (CNNs audience) thinks that being an airline pilot is dangerous since that is the only professional pilot that they know.

Although I do not have any exact numbers, I would say that a vast majority of professional pilots are 121 pilots. Therefore, 90% of the "danger" comes from 10% of the workforce.

I don't think that zasca meant that anyone was unprofessional. This is just a skewed statistic meant to be sensationalistic. Notice how they reference the Comair crash in Lexington. That killed a whopping ONE pilot. Welcome to American media.
