Does anyone remember that flame-a-nator H8U? It sounds to me like he may have graduated Junior High and reincarnated as Dieterly. Still not too bright but at least he can form complete sentences and use the quote button. His avatar says it all....LOOOOOOSER!

I hauled checks for a while. Come to think of it, I hauled chicks too! Little yellow fuzzy things that go "cheep, cheep". They rode up in the front of the Navajo with me. They were so cute!

I paid $165 per year to have pass priveleges for my myself, wife and parents. That was for coach travel only. First class upgrades required an additional surcharge. International flights required the payment of taxes/departure fees. My brother works for American, not his fault, he was Air Cal. He has always paid a fee for each segment based on class of service and distance. At United up until their last contract I believe the pilots paid a fee based on mileage.

I'm glad you get to fly for free, but I never have as a non-rev.

Jarhead, I'd count your blessings. You are perhaps the only non-rever I know who always flys free in 1st on empty flights. I guess some guys get all the luck. I know DL mainline guys who are near retirement on the 777 who don't get 1/2 the seats you seem to! Load factors are around the high 70's low 80's on most of the flights I see (that essentially means full to those of you who who don't live and die by load factors to get to work). I do think it has alot to do with the route you fly, but still, very abnormal.

Dietery, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. It's becoming an increasingly hard sell though.

Your experience with paying a fee based on class of service and distance, sounds very much like the "buddy pass" situation at CMR. My brother got one of those buddy passes from his uncle to fly out and see him to transact some business. The "pass" cost my son $49 and some change for the round trip. When I asked my son about that price for his uncle's ticket, he told me the cost was based on some sort of formula, with distance being one of the variables.

I am a little vauge on the details, as I never really needed to know about the "buddy pass" situation. Mabe it was a different situation altogether, but I do know that through his nephew, my brother did the $49 trip MSP/CVG/MSP
