Anyone know what the status is of 934 after its gear up landing at EWR?
906 has reached its cycle limits and 907 is slated to do so shortly. Is this the beginning of the end for Piedmont?

934 is still in the NTSB's hands so Salisbury can't touch it and see if they can somehow salvage it. I'm sure they'll try. 906 isn't being parted out because according to our "MGMT" on the company website they are still looking at life extension programs. It always feels like the beginning of the end here.

Yes, it is the end. Aluminum is no longer available so they cannot fix the airplane, also not a single manufacturer is producing aircraft. So..... PDT is f*cked

907 and 908 will time out before the end of the year. No way will they spend big bucks to extend the life of 25 year old frames. Also many parts are out of production and Piedmont will continue to shrink.
Years ago before the merger with Allegheny, Piedmont alone had a fleet of about 60 aircraft. Now they will dip down close to 40 planes.
The Hilton Head airport has a 4300 foot runway with 300 foot displaced thresholds at both ends and without the Dash-8, it will lose all commercial service, which is a shame as they board 60,000 yearly.
I wonder what other airports can only be served by the Dash?

A Saab won't carry much off a 4300' runway. Its TO speeds are 20 to 30 knots faster than the Dash.

Some of the SAAB 340Bs were moved to the Atlanta hub for the smaller feeder routes previously operated by ASA's ATR 72s which were phased out. Mesaba operated the type from ATL to Florence, SC and Hilton Head Island, SC but this service was discontinued on November 1, 2010. The runway at HHH was only 4,300 feet long and Delta was restricted to selling only 21 of the 34 seats making it uneconomical to operate the type on the HHH route.
