Very good question. How easy it to commute to EWN, ROA, CHO or maybe SBY from CLT?

All of those cities run pretty full with revenue pax. CHO might be the easiest. SBY would be the hardest. EWN could go either way, and ROA has a lot of very senior people doing the commute, but is drivable at 3.5 hours each way.

Any of them are doable, but SBY has the fewest flight options.

Don't rule out LGA. You've got several online flights, plus Eagle doing 3 or 4 turns a day. The caveat is there are tons of nonrevs going between those cities. Another possibility for getting there might be through ROA, CHO, DCA or some other intermediate city if need be. It all depends on how creative you get.
