Out of your next few trips there, seriously notice how long it takes to pull into a gate. Sometimes 2 minutes seems like 10. Im not saying its perfect, but where is? Yeah, the sports thing is a cheap shot. Most of the dudes in the hood hate baseball, and the Sixers nowdays for that matter.

I understand that time drags when you're waiting, but it is not uncommon to have 15-25 minutes inbetween the on and in times. Landing on rwy 35 should be about a 2 minute taxi to any gate in the F terminal. There is not alot of exagerating going on in the previous posts.

you know I thought philly was bad until the last few weeks that I've been in and out of CLT. What the he11 is up with that entire ramp operation they have down there? Its like a free-for-all. NASCAR racing with airplanes. And that blind corner up near the north ramp.

CLT = redneck Philly
What's wrong with that? It is in the heart of NASCAR country.

A former ALG guy flying a Republic 175 in and out of the CLT E gates...there has to be some irony in there somewhere!

Speaking of 175s and E gates, when did RP start doing that? I was kinda surprised to see them there...

You obviously do not spend much time in Philly. LGA is a similar situation. I once paid attention to my watch like the guy who wrote that letter. We were boarded up for exactly 46 minutes just waiting for a pushback crew.

Calls to ops, personally walking to the ramp supervisor's office, all met with no response. I think I have said this before, but I would really LOVE to see someone throw a chair through the TV in the ramp break room.

I have also seen many instances where the delay code was put on ATC or "late arriving aircraft" or whatever BS excuse that did not involve lazy ramp.

This topic can really get my blood boiling.

What...couldn't keep up with Jimmy launching 10 ramp instructions at once and not waiting for a responce.

J/K seriously though I have actually heard him tell an FO to get off the radio and put the CA on if he (the FO) could not keep up.

IT is Hillbilly Philly!!

Go up there sometime with a coffee for him and watch the magic. You know how you can have a conversation up front and not miss a radio call? He does the same thing- with five or six at once - and not lose SA. Not easy.

speaking of PHL - has anyone seen the sailboat beached on the island just to the right of final for 9R? I first saw it the day of the 3/17 ice storm landing 9R. Guess it broke away from the local marina due to the wind. Doesn't look damaged - nice boat - 25 to 30 foot sail w/ inboard motor by my guess - still there as of last week. Maybe we should launch a recovery and dock it off the app end of 35 as a new crewroom.

Would be closer than both our crew rooms (AWAC and Republic) in DCA

Thats why there is a north hold line. Its great to see 6 or 7 RJ's coming out of the corner at one time like a line. One time there was a 757 taxiing out REAL slow followed by about 5 rj's. The tower controller gets on laughing and says you guys should come up here and see this...looks like a mother duck being followed by all the kids!

CLT really isnt that bad. Just make sure you have 130.07 dialed up on #2 before final when Jimmy is working or you might miss the clearance in to your gate!
