I tell ya what, you can go back to the past (let's say the 50's) under one condition; that you're a black woman and you live in Tupelo Mississippi. Write us and tell us how good you have it.
Actually, I was raised by two Democrats who believed in raising disciplined children...if that's what you mean by "conservative."Timebuilder said:Sounds like you were raised by conservatives, Typhoon...
Again, depends on what you mean by "conservative." If you mean I'm going to someday vote Republican and put a "Rush is Right!" bumper-sticker on my car...I doubt it. But I do plan on raising disciplined, healthy children.I suspect you will become a conservative as you see your child grow.
In all seriousness, your comment is racist at its core, and you should be ashamed for posing this situation, since it reveals that you think that being a black woman in the 1950's south is a bad thing, where one would somehow suffer for the experience.
I don't know how great that would look, but I wouldn't mind seeing crotchless leather boots come back into style. And them old time pointy bras. And HATS! Women doffed some pretty cool looking hats back in the Lauren Bacall days.kids are advertised jeans that if they were any tighter and lower they'd be wearing assles denim chaps!....as fashion!
Man accused in Nazi deaths deported
MIAMI - A Lithuanian immigrant accused of participating in the Nazi-led murders of Jews and other civilians during World War II has been deported to his native country, federal officials said Thursday.
Vytautas Gecas, 81, arrived in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Sunday, according to the Justice Department. Gecas had denied allegations of serving in a Nazi-led killing unit in Lithuania and Byelorussia, now known as Belarus, saying he was then an 18-year-old student.
"The departure of Vytautas Gecas from this country is another important step in the Justice Department's continuing efforts to deny sanctuary in the United States to those who participated in the perpetration of Nazi crimes," said Eli Rosenbaum, the director of the Justice Department's Office of Special Investigations.
Gecas immigrated to England in 1947, working as a miner, until 1962 when he moved to Chicago where he was an electrician, officials said. Later, he moved to Sunny Hills in Florida. He never became a U.S. citizen.
Gecas spent 18 months in jail for defying a U.S. District Court of Pensacola order to answer investigators' questions in May 1999.
Gecas served in the 2nd Lithuanian Schutzmannschaft Battalion that killed thousands of Jews, suspected communists and Soviet prisoners of war, according to court documents.
I feel sorry. I saw what they did to Jewish people. They were dying; they were like skeletons. I see the hole and people dying.

Them ladies always "Doffed" their hats, when the "KID SALAMI" walked into the room.
I don't count on the government retirement system. You shouldn't either, becasue the politicians will plunder it into bankruptcy and the liberal/leftists won't allow it to be invested and controlled by individuals.Dominicinco said:I think this countrys govt sucks. Now dont get me wrong, I was born and raised on US soil. but from what im seeing now-a-days with the economy and foreign policy, Iraq... and dont get me started on Social Security(which by the way, by the time Im 65, or 66, there will be no more money left).
To take the fight to their backyard. Heck of an idea IMO!Why are we in Iraq anyway?
could it be, you've been brainwashed by the leftists? If it was about oil, why haven't we invaded Russia or Venezualla?!Could it be........oil???
what's this swill you lefties keep pushing about Europe. They also have gasoline for $5/gallon, avgas for $10/gal or more. don't allow a fraction of the freedom for GA if at all. don't have land and homes that the average person can afford anywhere near as nice as in the US. don't have medical centers where the rest of the world travels to them for leading edge treatment (as we do here).GEEEEEEEz, what about free heathcare and education. Look at Holland, and Swiss, Belgium, and some other countrys in North Europe who have the highest GDP per person.
Easy, Timebuilder. I think Viva's point is that the 1950's were not exactly an episode of Leave it to Beaver for everybody. Rape, murder, incest, crooked businessmen, crooked politicians, bigotry...all these things existed before 1970. The difference is that CNN, Fox News, etc. didn't.
Don't forget, Timebuilder, that your elders were making the same complaints back then that you're making now
I can't say whether all the ills we've mentioned were fashionable in the Fifties, but talking about them openly certainly wasn't!

I think you're thinking of Britney.TonyC said:Not sure about the latter, but the former [Christina Aguilera] came from the Mickey Mouse Club.
Quite a legacy: Annette Funicello and Britney Spears...both of whom, I understand, jumpstarted several male members of their respective generations into puberty.bigD said:You're both right. They were on the Mickey Mouse Club together.
And now...I'm off to kill myself for knowing that bit of information...
Christina Aguilera and Eminem are disgusting, but where did they come from? Who were their parents? Who made them?
Essentially, this trend is a result of an abdication of responsibility on the part of parents in particular and society in general. Schools have passed on the secondary role of imparting the traditional values of society in favor of becoming a leading edge liberal engine of change straight out of the hippie movement. Too active in class? Medicate the students. Are they horny? Teach them how to have more satisfying sex, never mind they are still in puberty. Can't answer a math question? Let them approximate the answer. Can''t speak english? Guarantee they won't learn it by teaching in a language that they speak, but have never mastered. Don't be concerned with what they know, instead concentrate on how they feel.

Sure. If you can arrange it, I'll take it. Maybe I can sit next to Condoleeza Rice in school, and become a black female conservative leader when Connie is elected as the first black female president.

You're still dodging the issue, T.B. Guess who these "parents who refuse[d] to parent" are. They're your generation!Timebuilder said:The most important reason that [the current generation of "no-good" kids]have come into being is parents who refuse to parent.
