there's no way awac is getting dash's. why would they it woulnd't make sense..

1.for all purposes awac is one of the few contract carries that is a decent place to work for, hence pay scale wont be all that low that would be enough to offset #2
2.training cost incurred for both ca's, as well as Fo's. (pdt is already a dash operator) type is the same,
3. i'm guessing there is no way anyone will ever know until it is released to the public, because of public disclosure laws, ***if i found out xyz airline is purchasing or leasing 50 airplanes, i would probably go ahead and purchase a little stock from that manufacturer.
4.awac has no maint experience with dhc-8
5.scheduling awac would be a tougher issue with the dhc-8 than it would for pdt to have the q400 arrive becuase of same type, scheduling one airplane.

in all realty i think the awac q400 talk or rumor is jut flaimbaiting and dosn't have any real merit, i mean come on people, dont believe everything, just give it ia few minutes of thought before passing on stuff...
what are all your thoughts???

AWAC has already been approached by US Airways management to fly the Q400. Once the PSA 900 deal is done, they will then ask PDT and PSA to fly the Q400 also.

Like Parker says, "I like having multiple express carriers. We can keep them honest by pitting them against each other."

He says that line in every Crew News session when asked about express.

It's not ours. There's what looks like a CVR mic on the glareshield, and the FA lights (with the PA light, FA call light, etc) is on the side wall next to the cockpit door on the right side. I don't think we have any like that.

Also, the warning panel looks a little off for anything we have.

Funny though!

..

Hmm, I coulda swore it was a dash, video goes pretty quick to get a real good look. I just know a guy who flys with the dice on the sighting balls, so it made sense.

PDT wont do anything major until one falls out of the sky. Then maybe theyll think about it. Brittle wiring, brittle wiring, brittle wiring, and thats in the newer -200's! No need to replace it all, just patch a little section here and there. Lemme make sure those smoke goggles actually fit this time. Just the wiring stories alone I overheard gave me pause.

And whats this rumor about AWAC getting Q400's? Overheard a crew talking about it in philly. Oh man, I cant imagine what'd happen. Parking brakes would be set all over the PDT system if that happened. Lot of planes would start breaking in the outstations real fast. Its that dang nav select carrot, just keeps going out.

It's the pilot's job to negotiate qol and pay issues, not aircraft type. Seriously, what good does it do to claim a plane is broken? It hurts your job in the long run. "I have a great idea crew! Let's park this aircraft, piss off all the passengers, and make ourselves 4 hours late for our overnight." All the wannabe toughguy captains who used to spout this crap never backed it up anyway. I guess it made them feel big and strong for a measly minute.

AWAC operated -300 a LONG time ago for UAE....The PT-123 engine that is stilling in the Air & Space on the mall in DC has an AWAC Dash 8 picture next to it! Sorry

Also we have the CRJ/BAE-146/D-328 aircraft on the property at the same time, so scheduling can handle more than one aircraft type.

Know your info about a company if you want to bash them!!

Yea, your right in a way. I know that most of these captains who talk tough about parking airplanes are mostly full of it. At least I think they are, never know until the situation presents itself I suppose.

I think that video was from a Dash, just not one of ours. Look at at closely.

Back to the original question......

What's are the call out times for reserve?
How long would it take to hold a line in LGA?
Are most LGA trips 1 day out and backs or do they have multiple day trips?

Call out:
LGA=2 hours
MDT=90 minutes
All others=75 minutes

Hard to judge how long it would take to hold a line anywhere, that's a question that has no answer with too many variables, it all depends on where people go and when, but I'd guess a year, unless our attrition finally tapers off.

LGA has mostly out and backs, with a few multiday trips kicking around. It's perfect if you live in Queens, otherwise you're screwed.

I have been on reserve in LGA for 9 months and the guy above me just got a build up line after 13 months.

Mostly out and backs w/ a few crappy trips thrown in that are made up of the scraps that are leftover from the other bases after their schedules are done.

Enjoy.

Anyone else notice the downhill slide in MX these past few weeks?

Yes!!! Just heard from an FA who said she has had whole days from her schedule cancelled because of maintenance.

Suit up and communicate. . .

I need to add a comment for discussion. The new IDs are starting to come out and they don't say Piedmont Airlines on them, just USAirways Express. OOOOOOOOOOoooooooo. . . I've started another merger rumor.

I saw one of those new IDs the other day in HPN. I don't think it even said express on it, just US Airways with the employee number starting ENxxxxxx. Brand scope is on the way!!! Actually, I just think they're done that way so gate agents don't screw up the CASS verification process anymore. I have to tell them about 5 times how to correctly enter my employee number and airline code whenever I jumpseat right now.
