In addition a company can't deny human beings travel on a public service....

Well that's the most incorrect statement of the day. Companies (i.e. airlines) deny "human beings" travel services every day. Luckily the FAA has clearly given us many good examples of situations that warrant denial of travel services. One of them is interfering between a crew member and his/her duties. Not saying this situation qualifies or not... that will be more clearly decided in the court system at this point. But if you think you don't have the ability to remove a passenger from your flight then you better get a cargo job.

how much would lose if they didn't....

Yes, but they do not have to let them fly for free.

From what I've seen the other pax back up the mom so it makes me think the FA was out of line. For all you who are judging the mom and kid based on how he acted on the TV show you know nothing about children. Sitting under hot lights in front of a big crowd is no fun for anyone. Besides how a kid acts during one ten minute time frame is not necessarily an indicator of how he acted on a different day. If he had been an angel on TV would you be backing the mom? Besides the claim wasn't that he was screaming and crying or misbehaving on the plane as some of you imply but just talking too much for the FA's taste. If I was to guess I'd say the FA over-reacted. It's rare you see other pax speaking up in favor of another pax.

And this one wasn't appropriate... The issue was WHY the woman was denied...and the debate was taken to denying a passenger simply because there was a child.

Stick to the arguement!!

Thanks for the school lesson....

This situation doesn't.... not sure if you read the whole thread or just jumped on.....

Thanks for the advice.... but in acutality I think I have the ability to address both the FA and the passenger needs.....

I think the FA was either having a bad day, or was new, or both. I see that all the time and it bothers me but I know how kids are. Kids are Kids. You just have to chalk it up to "One of those flights".

Here's a novel idea.
How about we raise the pay for FA's, so we can attract higher quality "material".
I love DH'ing and not being able to understand the FA during her announcement, because she's still speaking Ebonics, her accent is so dang thick or she just can't talk, period.

We've all worked with them. Most of them were saying "Would you like fries with that" at their last jobs.

That is superfical and shallow... would raising the pay for pilots get rid of the ignorant and uneducated opinions that have been expressed here? Use your noggin man!!

It would make people who are more qualified, want to apply.
I know girls who would like to be FA's, but the pay isn't good enough for them. So they're nurses and in marketing.

Most legacy carrier FA's are (or were) nurses, teachers, and other professionals. Those days are over. For here on is a down hill slide and that includes pilots. It's a race to the bottom, and if you think your 2500 hours and 3 years of experience makes you a top gun you are part of the problem. Managment believe that they can fly the airplanes from a desk and you Mr. Puppet will play along or they will take the ball away from you and give it to the next pilot mill graduate.

Now, now rez. Post something stupid and somebody is bound to call you out on it. It just happened to be your turn. Don't get your pretty pink panties in a wad. I love how you have apparently made up your mind from a very few available details or reliable sources. We have two news agencies here both of which are trying to sell newspapers of get additional viewers. They come across a story of a woman and her kid getting kicked off a plane. The woman says it's because her kid was too loud. The FA says it's because of that and a threat made against her. They interview 2 female pax (both undoubtedly mothers) and they (surprise, surprise) back the woman. Where's the guy that she was sitting next too. He would have heard everything and would without a doubt be the best unbiased source as he was literally in the middle of the conversation. Where is he? For all we know they did a phone interview of him and he backed the flight attendant. Thats not all that sensational of a story especially in light of todays general attitude toward airlines. People get kicked off of planes everyday for acting inappropriately. No story there. Which story is gonna sell better? Will most people want to relate to the airline or to the lowly little mom and her bouncing baby boy? And what excuse exactly do you think the FA is going to employ here? The lady wasn't drunk... she didn't have snakes crawling out of her blouse (both offenses I have given people the boot over). She's going to say that the kid interfered with her job and the mother did nothing to stop it except to threaten the FA. Maybe it was just a little threat too. "Im gonna get you if you don't leave me alone". Is that a threat? It's a weak one but a threat none the less. I'm not saying this happened but it easily could have. The point is YOU DON'T KNOW. Nobody here does. Thats why it will have to be taken up in the court system if taken up at all.
And I agree that you can take on the needs of the FA and the pax both. I do this everytime I fly. Unfortuneately sometimes that means I have to kick a passenger off. Now I tend to agree that I think the womans story is more believeable in this case but the fact is that there is still a LOT more to be learned here and so the difference between you and me (or any rational person) is that I reserve judgement until all the facts roll in. But please don't think that you can't remove people from your flight. Not only is it in the FAR's but I guarantee it's in your company manual. It's also quite therapeutic!

Still arguing different points.... but you want to get personal?

Now its a womanism thing...? all sisters stick together huh....

Where's the guy that she was sitting next too.

Was there a guy? And if so.. then he must have a counter version.... But what?? He is afraid of the Oprah Army? Afraid me might become the antagonist on Lifetime?

He would have heard everything and would without a doubt be the best unbiased source as he was literally in the middle of the conversation. Where is he?

That is what I am asking you...

For all we know they did a phone interview of him and he backed the flight attendant.

Or all we don't know.... what if ...what if... what if...

Thats not all that sensational of a story especially in light of todays general attitude toward airlines. People get kicked off of planes everyday for acting inappropriately.

Yest it doesn't appear so in this case...rather it is more like FA's Behaving Badly....

But actually my debate is in how people are judging child behavior... they watch the GMA video and declare the child an out of control animal with no parental supervison.. when in fact I am willing to bet such "judges" behaved the same or worse at that age.... next...

And neither do you..... and you also don't know the debate...

Agreed...

Of course I realize I can..... but I don't have an ego that needs to say.... "Yeah, I had to kick someone off my flight..." And if I did I'd consider it not therapeutic......

In the video... the child crawls across the coffee table... the Mom lifts him up and way from the item that intrested him...... he get upset...

.....

I have to admit that I watched the video finally and I really didn't think he acted any worse than any kid that age. When I read he was carried off, I was imagining a screeching, out of control screaming and unbearable monster. I didn't think it was that bad. I also think the mom acted quite professional on tv.

Rez must have never worked in an inner city ER. Shallow? Superficial? It's called calling it like you see it. PC needs to die!!!!!!!! It is going to contribute to the demise of this great country.

Rick, I'm with ya bro! The last expressjet flight I was on was like Soul Plane with the FA. She was soooooo slow too.....the flight was 1 hour, about 20 pax and she never even got to passing out snacks. It's sad that you can probably make more flipping burgers than being a regional FA. Whaddya think you are going to attract paying $14K a year with no end in sight?

So you are saying you've worked in an inner city ER...or you watch ER for seven seasons?

PC? what does PC have to do with tolerance of child behavior.... ? Not poor behavior but behavior typical of a 2 year old... and not that you don't correct it....
