Never landed there, but have flown right by the airport multiple times at low level several years ago. There was a Falcon 50 there one of those times. Definitely obstacles, but the GPS is good. It is really beautiful, even when the weather is cruddy, which it probably will be.
Your lodging is limited in Klawock and if I recall, there was no fuel available there either. There may be an "FBO" trailer. Ketchikan is okay; there's a ferry to/from the airport. Alaska Aero Services "FBO" at Sitka is excellent also. I find Sitka more pleasant. The advantage of Ketchikan is the ILS mins. Sitka is a great place though and the LDA mins are good.
