Does anyone know if there is a site where you can download a NASA ASRS form where you can fill in the blanks on your computer and then print it out? This would be a lot neater than using a pen, and easier than using a typerwriter. Plus, I'd like to have this readily available for future use.

Thanks!

But are you able to edit the linked PDF files with the Adobe Acrobat Reader? I don't think so. It may work if you have the full version of Acrobat (I don't, so I wouldn't know).

Yes, you can. I checked before I posted the link. I didn't actually print one out, but I did confirm that you can type stuff into the blanks, and the instructions say that you can print out a completed form. I only have the free "reader" version of acrobat, not the full version. You may need the latest version to have the edit capability.

That's interesting. I just tried it with the free reader version that I use (5.0), and it does let you edit (but just where the blanks/check boxes are). I was under the impression that PDF documents were either 100% unalterable (using the free reader), or 100% alterable (with the full version). That's how it had been for many years. The method NASA uses is extremely useful for filling out specialized forms, without having to drag out the typewriter!

That capability has been there for quite a while. It has nothing to do with your version of the Reader. It has to do with weather the creator took the time to create form fields on the document.

One thing to watch for: depending on the version of the reader, you may or may not be able to save the data. Interestingly enough, the 4.0 reader lets you save the form with the data; 5.0 does not.

So be sure you print a hard copy of what you send out.
