Do any of you have experience with online mx courses to prepare for FAA tests? I am an AF mechanic headed out to the AOR next month and wanted to find some courses to help me prepare for the FAA tests. I guess I could study the books on my own, but I'd rather do a structured course if something is available. Anyone have experience with this company or other web courses?

I haven't tried these courses but they look interesting.

However, depending on how much experience you have in the AF, you could just go to a place like this:

http://bakerssch.com/

All you need to do is go to your regional Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) with your training records and sit down to talk to an FAA official.

The experience needed for an "A" is 18 months, "P" 18 months, or for an A&P you need 30 months total time. Figure a 4 year enlistment at least is 48 months so it shouldn't be a problem. They can sign you off and all you'll need to do is test.

A place like Baker's in Nashville, TN (link up top) will guarantee you to pass all three writtens (general, airframe, and powerplant) and your oral and practical tests. I went there with my AF experience and left with my A&P 10 days later. The total cost was about $2,000 including the course, test fees, and hotel. You already have the basic knowledge and experience so all they do is hammer the test questions and answers in your head...and the way they make you study makes the testing a breeze.

Good luck with whatever you do.
