Mergers don't always lead to stronger networks. They often fail to provide the returns promised, and cost far more than expected.
If merger mania goes down, staying out of it and watching the self inflicted wounds from the sidelines as a stand alone airline may be the best play. Particularly if a merger also entails an additional $8B in debt just to create a smaller network to be run by an individual who seems incapable of handling the AWA/AAA merger, let alone adding DAL into the mix.
