That is a very good way of looking at it. I think it really comes down to personal preferance, something a DE should not be interjecting into a checkride, but that is a different argument. I would prefer a stall before Vmc (stall meaning a stall warning) simply because it is a definate thing. Loss of directional control can be varied by pilot technique as well as other "physical" factors. Of course you can effect stall speed by technique (acclerated stall) but those are much less likely at lower speeds, IMO.

I would think in a practical sense, that the scenario laid out before us would be somewhere near the ground, and rolling off to one side I would argue, is worse than stalling. Falling onto the landing gear VS falling onto the wing tip. But again simply academic in conversation.
