That's one way to look at it. Things usually look darkest just before they go totally black.

I think this holds true unfortunately most of the time... wishful thinking is one thing but reality tends to differ... Oh well I guess it is better to "attempt" to be optimistic-

ahhhaaaa- When I get married... avbug the invitation is there for you to come and give a speech. It will be like a scene out of "Meet The Parents" only at a wedding... this could be quite a wedding !!- NOW I cannot wait if you accept the invitation ...

If there was ever a time for people to feel negatively about aviation, this is that time. There will be a reversal of this trend, it will simply take some time.

Avbug's comment about "Things usually look darkest just before they go totally black" reminds me of my last flight with my old company: returning to PA from Sarasota at night, and seeing the entire transition from a starry night sky, through dawn, and into morning for the landing.

No matter what, I'll be fine.

When I was on the M&T Bank shuttle Prior Aviation KBUF were looking to hire a Lear SIC and Navajo pilots. I am not sure about present day since this has been some time now. Island Air was also always short on crews, they flew in and out of KBUF quite often and that was a crew base. Try Air Now as well, they are hiring according to their web page.> EMB-110 and the "C" fleet. Was pretty impressed with the operation they have in Burlington.

Also try Av Base at KCLE - They are pretty well respected in this neck of the woods and they operate a pretty nice fleet, they were also looking to hire First Officers for Citation II, Citation III, Gulfstream 200, Lear 31, Citation VII, and Citation V Ultra.- Good luck

Flight Options is also currently hiring ->Qualifications: Must meet ATP requirements and have passed the ATP written exam. Posses 1500 hours total time, 300 multi-engine and 100 hours multi-engine turbine. Relocation is not required. Corporate aircraft/part 135 experience desirable. Pilots currently on furlough must resign their seniority and any call back rights.

We have lost one pilot to them and probably going to loose another few. They tend to give preference to the guys who have been let go and are out of work. I would give Eric Gearhardt (sp?) a call and explain your situation.... You can also fill the application and submit a resume from the site.->

Wow guys! Keep this thread going. It's the best list of who's hiring now.

Charter outfits at VNY specifically state "come by with your resume." Same with the outfit in BUR. They hire even if their website says they are not. (Clay Lacy, Chrysler, and Raytheon)

www.skypatrol.com, pipeline patrol outfit in San Diego, is looking for pilots.

350 mentioned Island Air in BUF, but I don't think you need to spend time researching them. They are either defunct or in the contraction mode. Didn't sound like a happy place anyway.

This thread has been a great resource for me, and maybe many others, too.

If anyone else has leads for the Lear 35 or 55, or a lead where the operator is willing to provide transition training for a different airplane, please add it to this thread.

Thanks again to eveyone who has helped out on this. A flurry of faxes and emails has gone out, and I'm finishing my ATP written studies. In a few weeks, I hope to qualify for state money (read that: money I have previously paid in taxes) to help pay for a type at SimCom.

yes, but you fail to metion the all important "know someone" clause. the minimums mentioned are just to apply...dont even bother if ya dont have a solid contact on the inside ;)

Being a realist I would say that with your experience there are 1000 people with the same experience for every resume that you send out. When I was doing all the hiring for a Lear operator I couldn't believe all the resumes that came in. I had no choice but to clean out the file every month. The ones that got my attention were to people that took the time to come in and establish a relationship with me. I know that is hard to do long distance, so the other alternative was via a friend. At the airline I am with now all, and I mean ALL, the hiring was done via "friend of a friend". I would say having someone on the inside is essential to you getting hired anywhere in this environment and with your experience. This is on the human level with God all things are possible as we have said and acknowledged before. Praying for ya.
