MAJOR GENERAL THEODORE “TED” MALLORY III JOINS ASTAR AIR CARGO AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT – FLIGHT OPERATIONS


(Miami, FL – April 12, 2004) John Dasburg, Chairman and CEO of ASTAR Air Cargo announced today that Major General Ted Mallory (Ret. USAF) has joined ASTAR Air Cargo as Senior Vice President – Flight Operations. Mallory comes to ASTAR from the Federal Aviation Administration where he served as an Aviation Safety Inspector. Mallory will oversee flight operations and serve as the airline’s safety officer.

Dasburg stated, “I am delighted that General Mallory has elected to join ASTAR. General Mallory is a proven leader with an unparalleled breadth of experience in the corporate, governmental, and military arenas. I am confident that General Mallory will have an immediate positive impact on our flight operations and safety programs.”

Mallory succeeds Dan Brannan, an 20-year veteran of ASTAR Air Cargo who has elected to return to his previous role as a DC-8 Captain. “We thank Captain Brannan for the successes he achieved in the flight operations department. He raised the awareness of safety at ASTAR and we are fortunate to have his leadership skills in the cockpit.”

Mallory, a retired senior captain and chief pilot at Northwest Airlines, currently holds an Air Transport Rating, pilots his own personal aircraft and has over 15,000 hours flying experience including 10,000 hours as Pilot in Command. He has an extensive business background and a very distinguished military service record linked with strong academic credentials in both civilian and military leadership. General Mallory has been publicly recognized with a number of honors such as Air Transport Associations Distinguished Service Award in 2002, Department of Defense Distinguished Service Medal 2001, Northwest Airlines Presidents Award 2001 among others, which testify to his outstanding career accomplishments and abilities. General Mallory also has an extensive background in safety having completed courses at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and FAA regulatory courses as well as accident investigation courses.

General Mallory’s appointment is effective June 1, 2004. In the interim Captain Pete Blessing, Director of Flight Operations will assume Captain Brannan’s responsibilities and report to Ray Lutz, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer.

ASTAR Air Cargo is a licensed U.S. air carrier operating a fleet of 40 aircraft from its hub at the Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky International Airport. The airline provides all-cargo scheduled and charter services on a contract basis for the DHL Worldwide Express network and charter services on a contract basis for other customers including the U.S. Military and the United States Postal Service. ASTAR Air Cargo is a participant in the United States Civil Reserve Air Fleet program supporting our national defense.
