Anyone know what the typical schedules are for the DC10, where training is conducted and how long etc?

I understand that the DC-10 sim training is conducted in Miami by Aero Services. I also that Omni still has openings for their Aug. 29 DC-10 class. So I hear thru the grapevine...

I wasn't debating work rules or pay and could really care less. If AirTran has made to the $1bil mark, then great, I wasn't honestly sure.

I think that's at the lower end of being competitive, but they seem to prefer DC-10 or 757 Part 121 experience for now.

Pay doesn't seem to bad. Do they actually upgrade people or only hire street captains? And is the next step if you like this type of flying World?

Omni does have a sim profile but it is done on a pc using MSFS. (DC9) Not a bad set up and very straight forward. Typical intercept radial after departure climb to specified altitude. Steep turns and an approach to LAX. One-on-one with pilot type. Mostly explaining how life at Omni is. HR interview with one or two HR people at once. TMAATW type questions. Everyone was extremely nice and professional. The only drawbacks to the process is that you must provide transportation to the interview and to training. I have seen their 757s in Spain, but where does Omni's DC10s fly?

Friend of mine is on the 75. He likes it so far, but his schedule has been pretty bad. Away from home a lot, (not sure if he is scheduled on all of his trips or JA'd) I think last month he was gone for 20 days. Not sure about the 10. He's happy, but most of us with job's are nowadays.

From what I remember someone said, training is 7 weeks in LAS and you get $1000/month. And aren't the schedules 18on/12 off?

Not a bad place to work. As with any job there are ups and downs to it. The pay is below industry average and the schedule is brutal. 18 on and extendable to 22 but they pay you for the extra 4 days. The nice thing is they have NEVER furloughed a pilot and there is a pretty decent profit sharing deal. If not for a final job its a good place to get some widebody heavy time under your belt. And add some muscle to your resume.

I ran into an Omni pilot the other day and was asking him about the schedules. He said that he has been there a little over a year and has never been out 18 days. The most he has been out was 14 days, but most months were less than that and he had still not broke the 65 hour gaurantee. He likes it so far, but did not have positive comments about excessive multi-leg deadheading on company aircraft crammed in a middle coach seat between troops and their gear since they dont get seats reserved for them. I guess the company tries to save money doing this instead of buying commerical tickets for them. He also joked about the quality (or lack of) of the FAs from ATL! Apparently a bunch of Queen Latifa's types with no ettiquete overseas!
