It's all part of a new strategy! Fire everyone, park all the planes, and we will save a ton on fuel!!

-Ingenious, General/737..... Really gifted!

Let's just call this "synergy"... It will sound a lot better!
That is what UAL is doing, and now we will have a younger fleet! About 150 pb oil, I heard a quote of $150 by 07/04 from a guy at morgan stanly around 0930 am on the radio. When I got off my commute flight at 1345, oil had hit 141 bucks a barrel. These speculators need a federal gag order!!

Speaking of monkeys, I saw you at the circus last night. I think you're getting paid peanuts!

This message is hidden because Jmoney is on your ignore list.

2 posts, I'll bet a case of beer that both of them are about jhomo's infatuation about General Lee!
I see you're still the scared little chicken ******************** posting and running away!
737

The truth hurts budy I know, I know. It will be alright. You and lear 70 and pcl 128 can have a group hug together.

Dude, who pissed in your Cheerios? Have another beer and get off the thread for the night.

Wishing people not to advance is weak, sign of a di(k! Everyone is hurting right now and wondering about their futures, no need to say stupid crap like that!

Just another post that makes me wonder why I even come on here.

First of all I was just kidding with the general. You need to relax. Second I work for SWA so when the General decides to provoke us I take the oportunity when I can to provoke him! Now 737girl thats different.

Allegiant makes money with the 80's. The key will be if the 9 with no lease payment, if used on the right routes can be as cost effective as a new 737 w/a big lease payment and not that much less of a fuel burn.

The 737-700s have different missions then a dc9 does so the comparison isnt a good one on many different levels.

If the 2 aircraft are flying the same route - I would say they have the same mission. 100 lbs a minute versus 75 lbs a minute with fuel being the biggest cost for everyone makes those 737-700s even more profitable.

I agree with your first part about lack of lease payments possibly making up for fuel costs. This is certainly what has kept NWA flying their DC-9s. With fuel as high as it is - I wonder how much longer this will still make sense.

So basically there's a point in block hours where the DC9 loses its battle against the 737 as the more it flies, the more fuel it burns. Even at 25 lbs/min. it could be pretty significant.

He does sound infatuated, and I don't blame him. But, it is creepy. I wouldn't expect anything less from someone from Valdosta, GA though.

Bye Bye--General Lee

How would you even know what the discourse was about if I am actually on your "ignore list?"

Oh, wait-I guess I am not on 737pylt's ignore list.... That would of course explain a few things, now wouldn't it?

-You are just not that smart, now are you-General....

whats the avg. stage length on a 737-700? the dc9 at nwa is i believe around 450 miles. My point being there are a lot of factors involved in the debate on this and i am sure the bean counters are paying very close attention to it. Either way the dc9 has been a very good investment by nwa and been a good money maker thus far. I think DAL will use the remaining -9s as a filler until a replacement has been found for mainline. we shall see.

I hate to say it but it needs to be pointed out. The writing is on the wall.

How many Dc'9 did you use to have??? Like 160+

And how many will you have at the end of summer 2008, 58?

So if they are SO profitable then why get ride of these wonderful can't go wrong money making machines???

And after Compass hits 36 ac I'm sure the the Dc'9 is history. Yes, Despite all the scope language.
Speaking of scope, how and why was Compass ever allowed to exist. A regional within a major airline creating not b scale but a z scale.

I wasnt saying they will be around for a lot longer but they will probably be around as a filler for the time being until a mainline replacement can be found. I suspect another order of 737s possibly after the merger, we'll see. Explain to me how OUR/YOUR scope will just be ignored? Thats a horrible attitude to have. I wasnt here for the beginning of Compass so i had no part in that decision.

NWA pilots caved....period. It was all about the pension, and the majority of the senior guys would have sold their mother's soul to keep it. Hopefully we learned the lesson and not repeat it! Unfortunately, we're stupid pilots still listening to the same stupid advisers so we may be doomed to make the same stupid mistakes.

this thread is off track...is Delta going to make a profit this quarter or not? if so, they would have made more than 1Billion quarterly profit with oil at 2007 rates. sounds like Richard Anderson aka McGiver is doing a great job...

No matter how we slice it, SCOPE is the #1 priority for our joint contract. It will predict our QOL/pay... you name it. Once and when the DC9 is retired, replacement a/c must be flown by our combined company, period. No if, buts.

Personally, i think the 9 will stick around until the new C or emb jets arrive, or they decide to use the 73 as a temp. fix (only if oil prices continues its current course).
