Sorry to hear about that. That usually happens to some degree with new airline employees who go overboard with the travel bennies.

Check with the airline and see if they will take out the charges over the next three or four paychecks. My airline has done that for people in the past.

WOW! I've heard of imputed income nightmares at our airline, but they were SOL. They drilled it into our heads at indoc within the first two hours - watch who uses your travel bennies, lest the comma disappears and the decimal moves waaaaay left.

The non-rev charges are getting out of control. If it continues pretty soon it's gonna be cheaper to just buy a ticket. My folks just made a NRSA trip and it was $100 each, RT for a total of $200. If they would have driven 30-minutes further to MCI they could have purchased tickets for $80 each, RT. What a JOKE! And what benefit is that? Oh yea, the "pole-smokers" can designate a special companion and have their boyfriend fly somewhere with them for the same price that may parents get charged. That is a joke!
