I read chunks of the massive thread that showed up under search but I didn't see these questions:

1. With only 90 people on the roster, is turn over high currently and where are people going?
2. Is it possible to get an apartment or uncrowded crashpad at the bases under 500/month?
3. What is the dating situation like? What kind of females are available? Actually, this should be the first question:)

I'm about to be furloughed from a regional and a quick upgrade and a few years in Hawaii seems like a good deal. Everything stateside seems like long upgrades or endless whipsaws. Thanks

I would be happy to answer you questions because they're all easy answers.

1) 99 people on the list. No one is going anywhere. AQ's not hiring. HA's still not called 75 guys back. Everyone here is here for a while.

2) Impossible. For $500 a month you might be able to share a room with someone in someone else's home. Seriously. It ain't gonna happen for 5 bills a month. Do a rental search on the net.

3) This is the least of your worries. Feeding yourself and providing shelter in HI are tough enough. Add to that being a mainland haole and you're probably not gonna need a stick to keep all the wahine at bay. Good luck on this one.

Finally, don't ever refer to the mainland as "the US" or as you put it "stateside". This is still (barely) the united states. Just like the tourists that say they're from the US when they board our planes. You don't want to sound like an idiot.

Oh, and as for the quick upgrades here. No guarantees at the moment. The 2nd and 3rd Q400s won't show anytime soon and many of the 400 CAs are back in the 100 left seat. Upgrade may take a while especially since you'd be at the bottom of a 99 person list.

Aloha.

RJP -

I think you just answered my Q. I work for JALways and we're down to flying 30 hours/month or so, and I have tons of time off, so I was thinking about checking out FO positions with Island Air, but I guess it's not an option at all. How do you like it there?

Thanks!

There was an operator looking for a Shorts 330 Ca.for HNL a few weeks back. Corporate Air or something like that ...

Isn't Coprorate Air down to one 330 now? I think Trans Air has 4 or 5 of them now... 360s that is. Sexiest damn prop airplane ever made. I think I'll go hump a wheel fairing right now.

I think that corporate is getting another shorts, a brazillia, and a 1900 for the mail contract.

The 330 is the box that the twin otter came in.

The 330 is the aero equivalent to the Porsche 911. Just damn sexy. Hahahahahahahah :)

I thought Alpine was doing the mail? Sheesh... I'm so out of the loop.

Here at Transair we are currently hiring for FO's and CAPT's. We currently have a fleet of 5 Shorts 360's. We have just ratified a pilot contract...so life is good.

What's the deal with the "Interisland Airways" 360 over there - is that a charter aircraft?

Would love to actually ride in a 330/360 :)

Do you have a website? Where can I find info?

Don't you guys still charge like 12 grand for a job there? Life is good if you're a rich kid.
