Out of PHL last night, cleared to a couple intersections that are not published on a chart (PHL7, high, or low chart), they're not even in the current GNSXLS database.

This was a serious pain in the rump. No lat/long no nothing given just a radial and a distance off E.texas. We did find STOEN in the databse, not on any chart however...then it got worse...(REEFI or something like that, don't have the paper anymore)

Anybody else run into this? anybody using the GNSXLS know a good way to create a user wpt. based on a radial and dist (not lat long).

What happened to good old MURPH?

Coming out of TEB Friday, I heard a conversation between an airliner and ATC concerning this. ATC basically said it was coming from TMU for spacing or something. He said it was just something being spit out by the computer. He wasn't giving intersections, just radial/distance waypoints.

As for the GNSXLS, If I were sitting in front of it pushing the buttons I could help you. But since I'm not....sorry. It's in the manual, though.

What was the radial and distance off ETX?

272 @ 60 always seems to be given but never flown since the closer we get then the ammendments start to come in. The full route to CLE that we pick up on the ground will be changed 3 or 4 times enroute and this is a "given"... Seems to be a pretty ineffiecent flow BUT due to LGA, JFK, EWR, and others I am sure that the changes are always expected and anticipated by both crew and ATC... As soon as you cross over from New York center to CLE Center then direct to CXR or YNG pretty much. :D  :D

Badger, I don't have approach charts handy for the area, but it looks like it's right over the susquehanna river.

Coming north from Florida, I would invariably get a radial and distance off of a VOR from Washington Center. It turned out to be SCAPE intersection. Why they just didn't come out and say that is still a mystery to me. Maybe one of the ATC guys has some insight.

I can't remember if it was from Lanna or Parke, but from one of those departure fixes to J64 over to the CLE area they seem to like. After Lanna or Parke, it was radar vectors to RAV.

I filed that one time and they gave it right to me, no ammendments and it was also busy as hell in the NY area.

On a few occasions I've been cleared direct to an intersection which was published on an approach chart or a SID/STAR but it was not on any enroute chart. As I recall, the clearance was followed by cleared direct to another fix on my route of flight.

When I questioned ATC on this, the reason that I was given was that it modified my ground track in a way that they could easily follow while increasing separation between aircraft.

*(VOR ident)/ENT/Radial/ENT/DME Dist/ENT used to do it for me before I was laid off.

Hey Badger, check your PM's... I sent you some contact info where you can get some answers.
