Considering what the guys and gals at the gates have to deal with on a daily basis, I'd say NWA has the best service.

Hey Now,
Please define "worst". If they are the absolute worst, then it means they are the "best" at being worst. So in a way, its not as bad as it seems.

VERY nice spin doctor! I like it.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with the survey. I fly NWA as much as a can on the company time and dime because we get to rack up the miles. But it is so painful to fly NWA, or any other US legacy for that matter, and I am almost always in First or Business class. Of course, if I was doing the exact same job from a couple of years ago for HALF the pay it would be REAL hard to put a smile on my face. I have to sympathize with them at times but how hard is it to say a simple "hello" or "how are you today"?

Maybe the next generation will be better because the old bats have to retire sometime. The pilots are still doing one heck of a good job though!

I recently DH'ed USAir to Europe and then Gulf Air to KWI. What a difference. Not a single FA on Gulf Air was over 25. Food was good. Airplanes bran new.

On USAir not a single FA was under 50, and they had the "been around here too long" attitude as well.

I shudder at the thought of DH'ed home.

A friend of mine who flew for NWA (furloughed for about 3 or 4 years now) claimed the company motto was, "Be rude to someone before they can be rude to you."

you can thank the feminazis for that.

Yeah, pretty amazing how a gate agent in the $hithole B.F.E. Wisconsin airport (where I currently live) could be so rude....

that is SOP for airlines in bankruptcy. Anyone besides me lucky enough to be a (paying) passenger on US Airways during the Christmas 04 mess?

There was a noticable attitude change (at least from my point of view) at Mesaba when we announced our bankruptcy, compounded by the already announced NWA bankruptcy.

If god didn't want you to suffer such a poor QOL, she would have miracled your ass somewhere nicer.

I'm curious what B.F.E. Wisconsin airport you're talking about?

It's definately true. They have the rudest gate agents and flight attendants. Not to mention, management that could care less how rude they are.

Its the union. If you can't discipline non-performing morons how the hell are you supposed to improve service. These idiots then complain that all the high paying passengers are going to Emirates, SIA, VS etc. Go figure.

So what do you do, Mr. "Individual", if the "non-performing morons" are running the company and paying themselves huge bonuses even when they fail?

Got a fellow employee that's deliberately hurting customer service? Call Pro Stan.

Got a CEO that's doing it? Call your uni....oops!...Sorry! Call your barber. He can do as much about it as you can.

110% correct. Northwest has the rudest and nastiest gate agents & flight attendants, hands down with no questions asked.

i cannot beleive you your pilotfriend....they do not rank customer service of NWA with other industries...they rank it with other airlines....so NWA gate agents have to deal with the same crap every gate agent has to deal with.

And by the way, the majority of the NWA gate agents at outstations i deal with are great....even thought they are currently getting so screwed by NWA and are losing their jobs. The ones i have problems with are the minneapolis gate agents that tell me they do not have time to move a jet bridge, cause they have better things to do, or the ones who tell my there is no space on a flight i have positive space on......fine i say, do not let me on....unless i am on my way home!

XJhawk you probably came into the red tail family recently judging by your time. I doubt you ever experienced the old times at the main hubs. The working conditions, back in the time most of these people are from, were incredible. It was one of the best jobs out there, and now moreso than any other airline, NWA has personally destroyed any atmosphere the company once had. Also NWA service includes you guys too.

YPF,
I believe that XJHawk stated that NWA HAD some great agents, but the ones in MSP were the worst. I don't think he was attacking you guys, merely pointing out good and bad. Nobody disagrees with the ranking and YES XJ/9E are part of the NWA family (apart from seniority), but it's funny how they share in the blame for crappy service, yet are not part of the same list, nor will they benefit from any upside to the NWA saga. I, for one have moved on from the Red tails - I feel sorry for anyone who goes to work, has to do battle with mngt and still maintain professional standards, only to win in court and be told by childish bean-counters "don't worry, we'll refile in court and get you yet" "oh, and by the way...........thankyou for your professionalism!"

YPF, i am pretty new...three years at XJ......i understand what you are saying....but when i am at the gate waiting for a push back and the NWA gate agent at the international gate tells us that they have better things to do than wait to move the jetbridge.......when she let us down to the plane, she was reading a magazine... well, that is terrible service. Oh, and by the way, i have seen bad service at XJ gates aswell.....

And, yes i blame NWA for the bad service, i cannot blame someone for being bitter and such when they know they are losing their jobs......being replaced cuts, lower pay etc. NWA while trying to cut cost to make billions in the future...when ticket prices get back to 2006 prices......take a look at British Airways....they are being attacked by even more lowcost carriers than any and they are making a profit......
