Anyone from NWA have any insight on this resolution? Is the NWA MEC considering a single list?

Agenda Item #12: The Addition of Mark Golden (NWA Pilots Merger Committee Chairman) to the Negotiating Support Committee and Inclusion in the Negotiating Support Efforts to Assist with Various Regional Jet Flying Issues. Directs the MEC Negotiating Committee to coordinate its efforts with MEC Merger Committee Mark Golden when it develops an SJ opening position. It also states that all solutions that provide for a fair and equitable distribution of flying and that enhances the careers of all ALPA pilots within the Northwest Airlines family be considered in developing the NWA MEC’s contract opener. Passed Unanimously.

From talking with some of the NW guys, mainline management has been in early discussions with the union and has requested pay concessions OR relase from scope issues regarding RJ's (SJ's). The union stance has been, to loosely paraphrase, "You can piss right off". They're not going to give ANY ground on these issues immediately, as there's just no reason to rush into any agreements, especially with the economics of NW and the country as a whole looking better each quarter.

The latest counter-proposal from the union was that they would agree to a 15% pay cut immediately, and unlimited SJ's, but ONLY if they made NWA and the Airlinks all one company, bringing all the aircraft and pilots on property in one seniorty list, seat locking everyone for a period of time so no one was adversely affected, and growing it all as one carrier.

From what I hear, it was NWA Management's turn to tell the union to "Piss right off", although the matter is far from closed. Talks are proceeding at a snail's pace, and who knows how long until this issue will actually become a focal point, or will die on the table.

It's most likely gonna take a very risky strike to bring regional WO's and mainline under a single seniority list and the same contract. I highly doubt that any sane management would just hand that kind of power away to the union in exchange for unlimited SJ's.

Just my .02 cents

This was a Union proposal to review & enhance any Scope language, based on the possible future purchase of any new type of RJ or SJ. There was no proposal / counter-proposal between the Union & the Company.

The only thing being discussed in Section VI right now is Computer Bidding & Reserve issues :D
