From this mornings Detroit Free Press. NWA is expereincing a high turnover rate in the managment ranks. 10 of 41 company officers resigned in the last year. Stated if managment pay rates were cut the turnover would increase and it would be a non-sustainable situation. You can not have an airline without managment.

This is good news, as it provides a great apportunity for the kids from Wharton and Harvard to put their freshly minted MBA's to use. They certainly would do at least as good of a job at "managing" NWA as Steenland's crowd has done.

They have cut the workforce by double-digit figures in the last two years. Most of the normal staff, (check-in people, etc), have been long gone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's exactly what we have. These Nimrods "managed" us into CH 11, (no....no, we don't need to go along with any fare increases), and now feel they are "indespensible".

Mgmt testified in court yesterday that "it woud be improper for them to take additional pay cuts, since they needed to retain high caliber individuals". GMAFB......a blind monkey on a rock could do the job just as well.

they assume NWA actually has management. Frankly, I think new hire management fresh out of an MBA program could do just as good if not better.

Their taking their money and running.....................................

I heard that NW "let go" all their managers who didn't have a college degree.

Might want to get that resume polished up a bit there yip, it could be an industry trend.

good one DAjet, I don't think you can get into upper managment without a college degree, unlike an airplane. Always have your resume polished up, your network alive and running as part of a plan B and plan C. This is a tuff industry.

Hiring and firing managers for no reason is SOP at NWA. This article is meaningless. BTW their are upper managers at NWA without a college degree.

Do they wear "sans-a-belt" slacks?

Outsource management. There are plenty of guys who will do it cheaper and probably do it better.

I have never understood "We need to pay them a lot more to keep them around." Let them go.

Bethune's available. And I have a nephew fresh out of junior college who's looking.

Let those idiots pull their golden ripcords and jump. They should plan to retire abroad somewhere -- except Asia.

Lows mileage NWA DC-9? I think that is a contradiction in terms. I think we looked at some and you would not classify any of them as low mileage. In fact, I think we might be flying one of the lowest time DC-9’s in the world, an ex Kuwait Air Force C-9B.

An airline without management.

Why that's preposterours. I know of many airlines without management.

I, for one, have worked for years at an airline without any discernable sense of management.

Management is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it and then misapplying the wrong remidies.

Many management types are criminals. "Gentlenam of the jury, Chicolini here may look like and idiot, and sound like an idiot, but don't let that fool you: he really is an idiot. I implore you, send him to the penitentiary where his father and brothers await him with open arms. I suggest we give him 12 years in Leavenworth, or 11 years in twelveworth. I tell you what , I'll take 5 and 10 at Woolworth." .....Groucho Marx
