I live here in MSP. I am on the couch watching the evening news, and surfing flight info. Local news just came on, NWA is in serious financial distress, and has asked junior pilots for a 60% paycut.

Help me understand what the media can not explain acceptably.

All pilots? All FOs?, Pilots under a certain seniority number? Or did they just screw this up?

I wouldn't ask other-wise, however NWA has asked for some pretty out of this world things.

Good Luck,

AA

Does this mean hot chicks are coming back to U.S. carriers?

Northwest looks to foreign 12flight attendants

Bankrupt airline hopes move to some non-U.S. workers would cut costs

NEW YORK - Northwest Airlines wants to replace 30 percent of flight attendants on its international flights with non-U.S. flight attendants, roughly 800 people, to cut costs so that it can emerge from bankruptcy, a company executive testified in a New York bankruptcy court Thursday.
Northwest, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September, seeks to save $1.4 billion in wage and benefit costs. Thursday was the seventh day of hearings devoted to the airline’s request to toss out collective bargaining agreements with the unions.

Here's the Company's latest pay proposal:

COMPENSATION:
• Weighted average pay cuts of 28.4% with the largest cuts to DC9 aircraft. This includes a 40.9% pay cut for DC9 pilots in addition to the 15% pay cut from the Bridge Agreement. In response to ALPA’s opposition to these inequitable pay cuts, management subsequently offered an additional option of a 24% flat pay cut for all pilots.

If it looks bad from your position, try working here.

That paycut is BS.

If 'they' can pay for trots to Mexico ... They can pay the hard working employees..

If any of those proposed cuts go through one must ask themselves, regardless of the years spent at Northwest, at what point does the job just not become worth it?

Your logic is flawed. Hard working employees ? Shame on you ! We are disgusting liabilities……cost units, if you will.

We’re not supposed to mention that NORTHWEST AIRLINES CANCELED REVENUE FLIGHTS TO ACCOMMODATE THESE PARTY GOERS. What, you say ? Yep…flights from TPA to MSP & DTW were CANCELED; the aircraft were used to transport 700 party goers to CUN. Only 341 were employees. What ? The REVENUE PASSENGERS that were booked on those flights ? In classic NW style, they were left to FEND FOR THEMSELVES. Check it out at www.kstp.com

Don’t worry, I won’t mention the 20 NORTHWEST MANAGERS that flew MSP – DTW yesterday…..displacing First Class passengers….so they could begin a FOUR DAY SUPER BOWL PARTY.
