Just got this Email from the union. Things continue to look up for NWA.


Good news!!!!

NWA has announced more recalls!

Approx. 45 pilots will be recalled in Oct. for flying in Nov.

Approx. 15 pilots will be recalled in Nov. for flying in Dec.

PNR's will be mailed today by NWA.

That's fantastic news! Congtatulations to the recalled pilots! So how many does that leave furloughed?

That will leave somewhere in the area of 700 pilots on furlough. There has been a fairly high bypass rate for recalls (primarily for military reasons). With the additional flying being announced (West Coast Hawaii, additional 747 freighters, China routes...) plus consistent retirements, I'd expect the recalls to keep coming. The company is running at redline now with the current pilot manning. We'll see what the current contract negotiations yield. This could increase recalls (lower pay rates) or hurt recalls (increase productivity). Obviously, other industry turmoil could be a huge facter (liquidation(s), other bankruptcies...).

Hopefully things will turn around for everyone.

I think you meant the most senior guy on furlough.

Don't have an exact answer but believe it is Oct/Nov 99 timeframe.

My bad. Had a friend who was already called back. Mixed up his day / month hire date on the seniority list. Good news anyways.
