If NWA start their own small jet service, does that mean that all the pilots working for Pinnacle will be looking for jobs?

You betcha! If the accountants find that NewCo is cheaper, NewCo it is. Don't worry, everyone at XJ/9E/NWA will have preferential hiring. NWA probably won't hire another mainline guy for at least 10-15 years, if there is a flow through, then not in your lifetime.

wait a minute...i thought pcl was sitting pretty. since xj announced the furloughs all i've heard from those guys is come to the flagship we're hiring and getting the 70 seaters...nwa's not happy with xj and wants to grow us. now they're worried?? what changed? the pinnacle of the industry is worried?? hmmmm.....

Welcome, I don't want to bring you down but NONE OF US ARE EVER SITTING PREETY. In the late 90's mesaba pilots thought we were "sitting pretty" Express got kicked out and put in Memphis. We grew like crazy. Then when new jets were announced Mesaba guys thought "oh Express can't handle it because they are too small and NWA isn't happy with thier performance. Well you guessed it little Express got the new jets. Every time more orders were made Mesaba pilots thought we would get them, even during our contract negotiations. Now Pinnacle(Express) is big and we are shrinking... And as you said pilots say "nwa's not happy with xj..." See how this world keeps repeating. Its called whipsawing and it will never end. Enjoy the ups and hold on during the downs. It won't stop. And now that pay to play is here it will get even worse. Airline Management has been very successful at turning pilots against each other, making this even worse.

Has anyone noticed that as soon as Gen Lee hijacks a thread, it just goes straight down hill? Once GL chimes in, the thread is hardly worth reading anymore, because it just turns into another 'bash the commuters' thread, with the continuous rebuttles. But hey, I'm glad he's interested in "all areas of aviation" You should see some of his posts over on the crop-duster threads!!

i can see both sides to scope and regional growth issue. mainline gives it up and regionals grow...great we have jobs now but what about later. i don't think anyone here wants to be stuck working for a regional forever making next to nothing. if mainline doesn't give it up and they end up getting the 70 seaters and so on we all have some place to go "up" (if you can call it that). so what's the solution? what's going to make the majority happy?

on a side note....anyone have comments about the lowered mins to apply?? seems like they're scraping the bottom of the barrel with the 700 hr cfi that bought the multi time flying in the pattern. sorry, i just have a problem with that. you know....QUALITY vs. QUANTITY.

Hey everyone, everything from now on will be OK. There is nothing to ever worry about, or discuss, again. As long as I say that, 79%N1 will be happy and there will be no debate. Oh, but wait a second, I just heard the Russians will now start a crop dusting business to compete with ours, and we will now have to drink Vodka prior to all dustings, and get paid squat.....

Bye Bye--General Lee

It doesn't matter what someone puts on there, your right! I could have put the space shuttle on there. However, you were the one that stated that you put the airplanes that you have flown to show your experience level. I say that comment is pure bs!! I have flown beside corporate pilots that have had more experience then anyone flying a 747, 767 etc.!! So your comment about type of aircraft flown has a direct link to ones experience shows your lack of real knowledge of the aviation world. Anyone that has tons of experience would never say what you said in a comment!

Again you are awarded no points!!!

Relax guys. He's only a little co-pilot.

ok back to the original topic on this post, I am assuming now that it was made up as there has been no annoucement of any type anywhere.

The surplus in pilots is going into the majors, there is a shortage going into the regionals.

I believe it was actually taken from a court transcript on day 8 of the hearings. A NW attorney was questioning Mark Mclean (sp), the MEC Chairman, and Mark testified that ALPA had made a concession for 70 seat relief. The company is still holding out for the extra six seats... I didn't see anything explicitly talking about a number of aircraft...

That's my point. I would rather have the higher pay and better work rules, than a bunch of Ho'd out flying like Chiniqua has.

Yeah, you guys really showed the industry, huh? While you were screaming that a 5 year CA would make $100 per hour at Express Jet or you'd shut the doors, we waited to see what would happen. A buck and a half an hour more an hour and you still have junior manning. Nice work. Enjoy your "millions", I'll enjoy my firm days off. :)

There has been no decision on scope, the original poster is commenting on where the negotiations stand at NWA. The NWA mec is offering to replace the avros with 70 seat jets and for every new jet with 90 seats or above at mainline 1 more 70 seater with other restrictions. NWA has rejected this proposal and Mini-NewCo is still on the table. NWA wants 76 seat aircraft and is not budging on this.

I don't know, pounding vodka shooters before dusting some corn sounds like fun. As for me, I'm waiting until the Jamaican's compete for military flying. It would be fun to fly an F-18, but it would be even more fun to fly an F-18 on weed.

Peace out-
