Allen said in the July 10th update that the mediator has expressed concerns about extensive proposals, from either side, to modify the TA and the consequences of doing so. Someone please explain this to me. Isn't this guys job to play referee and not tell the NPA this is the best you will get. I hope Allen doesn't lay down again. We need him to step up to the plate! Whatever happened to the recall effort have not heard anything.

It's the mediator's job to bring the two sides together and work out differences, not get the best deal for the pilots.

His job will be made much more difficult if the union makes significant changes (regardless of whether the changes were demanded by the pilot group) to the TA.

It will be made even more difficult when the pilot group tells management to shove the TA up their A$$! TC

here is your chance NPA

When the first word's out of Allen's mouth is that the mediator is concerned about extensive changes.... I have to wonder how he is going to spin this one.... thankfully we have a panel with KING LEAR on board for a ''real'' pilot perspective. DO NOT tell me that the mediator is concerned. If the NC would have done their job (without interference) and truly represented the pilot group they would not be in this situation. If the BOD and NC had any sense of loyalty to the pilot group, they would have been firm-focused-fair. If they would have let the pilot group vote on this poor excuse of a TA, they would have seen a pilot group that is committed. DO NOT try to blame the pilot group for your inabilities to lead, motivate and be a LEADER. We are at a turning point as a pilot group. We can honor those that sacrificed their pay to avoid furloughs. We can continue to improve our contract in the same manner as the 2001 contract (the one that skippy didn't do). We can continue to conduct ourselves as professionals, flying the line safely and efficiently BUT never bowing to the rediculous offer from the company. No one on property came to AirTran with the expectation of flying the 190. No one wanted to go backwards on work rules. No one wanted to give away our flying to another carrier. We all wanted to be part of a company that has a good product at a reasonable price. Part of a company that is managed with some thought and insight. Part of a company that is growing. Part of a company where the pilot group respects themselves as well as other work group's. I will not sell out our flying for the sake of a payscale that will quickly be on the bottom thrid as soon as the concessionary contract are renegotiated. (I'm not just talking Captain pay). I will not be part of a stagnant growth while the 190 flying for Air Wisconsin goes through the roof. Allen, learn your own slogan and try this one on for size.....''Leadership by example,Leadership from the front,Lead, follow or get out of the way.''This pilot group is sick or your two-stepping talk that puts the blame on everyone else. This is your mess now clean it up. Get back with me when you have something worthwhile to talk about. We have a contract in place that at LEAST protects our flying. I can work under these rules for the next couple of years. I promise that the rest of the industry will raise the standard.

It seems to me that Allen is actually sympathetic to the mediatior's concern that he will have to do more work if major changes are made. Who cares what this guy thinks make him work. Allen needs to stop worrying about everybody else and fix the damn TA!

Write a letter

I just wrote a one page letter to Allen and the negotiating committee expressing many of the thoughts that have been expressed in this thread (Just Thinking - very well put).

I encourage every AirTran pilot to write Allen and NC TODAY and let him know your thoughts. It very well may not do a bit of good, but you will know that you've done what you can (while working under Allen's dictatorship) to "right the ship". Hopefully, if Allen and the NC hear from hundreds of pilots in the next two days while he is at the table, he might just grow a spine and stand to the company and the mediator and do the right thing.

Allen stated on the update that they have given proposals dealing with scope, general, insurance and retirement. But was advised by Mike Tossoff not to discuss the details. Is it just me or is'nt the pulled TA and extra sessions due to the fact that they hid everything from the pilot group in the first place.

I think the recall effort is alive and well, I knowof 3 people collecting signatures say they have over 125.
I've heard though that we have more than the 15% needed. Just going for the throat.

I don't know if writing a letter to Allen will help or not. Some men are born leaders and some are born cowards. I think Allen is the later.

I don't like the TA either, but I wouldn't go so far as to call the man a coward.
