And a fine ship she is........... Looks seaworthy to me. Whatever, ya gotta give those guys some respect for effort and originality!

I can just imagine the scene...

Haulover beach, North Miami. Just another quiet afternoon at the nude beach when.... a 1951 pickup on wheels washes up on the beach with 15 dirty cubans...

"PERO CARAJO VENGA CÁ ESTAS MUCHACHAS LINDAS MIRA MIRA MIJO COÑO"!!!!! :D

Would have been a good movie.. Shame they sunk the ship!

Saw the Coast Guard cutter sink her, on a clip on TV tonight. Looks like they backed off about 500yards and used her for gunnery practice with automaic weapon fire. They said the '51 Chevy was a 'hazzard to navigation' Now how weird is that?

Anyway, I am sure the C.G. had fun with that.....nice break in the routine on a sunny day. Went down in a fusilade of bullets, and a ball of fire and smoke. Kinda like 'the sinking of the Bismarck'

ROTFLMAO

Man, I looked for that pix for the board after I read it in the paper yesterday. Glad you found it.

Crash, how about "CHOCHA ESTEMOS LOCO!!!!":D

It does sort of confirm that official estimates are that somewhere between 50% and 90% of those people don't make it across or get rescued. The Gulf Steam can be really nice like in those pix, or it can be REALLY bad out there...

I give them a 10 for originality. They were thinking ahead... if they'd made the shoreline, then could release the drums and just drive away! By the looks of that truck, it might have brought a fair amount of money. Seems like old trucks are getting pretty popular these days.

In case you haven't heard....I believe there are NO auto manufacturers in Cuba, therefore you have a LOT of old American cars from the 50's, pre-Castro era. They keep these cars in top notch condition, since there's nothing to upgrade to.

Studebakers, Ramblers, 57 Chevys, you name it, they're all over the place, mint condition. Can you imagine the flood of collectors going down there, when we decide to liberate Cuba?

Whooaa...talk about pipe dreams!!!

You know they shouldn't have sunk her, personally I would have looked the other way, anyone with that much ingenuity deserves to come to America.

I tend to agree with you. Re. the old equipment in Coo-ba, I've heard visiting there is a lot like a trip back in time. not to mention their antique health care system, that the idiot leftists seem so enthralled with.
