Not Bad Huh?

I went to Key West Thursday night taking advantage of a nice tail wind push. I made it non-stop in less then 5 hr non-stop. Earlier a poster asked how in the world I could make it to EYW in 6.5 hrs non-stop from Chicago in a R182.

Well, this is how.........:D

BTW, here is the pic of the GPS in route, there were times when we approached close to 300 mph in the decent.

Total time was 4hrs and 55 minutes. We landed we 1/3 tanks, it doesn't get any better than this. I only used 58 gallons, split 4 ways, well, you get the picture.

We got the same tail wind on Sunday on the return trip but it wasn't quit as strong, but life is good!

Now way I could have made that trip in even twice the time commercial, by the time you drive to ORD and park and with all the TSA bulsh!t and with the lay over and connecting flight in MIA it would take all day! If you're lucky!

It would have been a lot faster if I could climb over the Class Bravo at 15,000 but I didn't have O2 so I had to go around.

Crazy Earl: These are great days we're living, bros. We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth with guns. These people we wasted here today are the finest human beings we will ever know. After we rotate back to the world, we're gonna miss not having anyone around that's worth shooting.

Haha...I remember those time building, trip taking days...they are some of the fondest memories my wife and I have of flying. And we have had a few...congrats on the safe trip and "t'anks for the memories!" Enjoy em, you'll be looking back on them too! :)

Lucky you 251mphs :D The fastest I have seen was 227kts gs in the comanche.
Its time for a faster plane. Mooney 252 or the rocket 305, maybe a T210

Yeah, but with that kinda tailwind to Florida in the wintertime,it's too cold to swim when you get there.

You got that right! It was 63 until Sunday when we left, then it was 80.

Unfortunately there was a temperature inversion, I was really looking forward to a tail stall, oh well, maybe next time. :D
