Red Tails, because in Asia, Red is the color of good fortune.

When The General calls his senator to complain that he thinks the leather jacket option at NWA is unprofessional, NWA's resident congress critter (Oberstar, chairman of the house transportation committee) will be forced to mud wrestle Lott in a cage tornement at the Mall of America.

In the resulting seniority merger, he will be forced to fly with senior NWA guys who've been widebody captains since they rolled the tractor up off the farm when they were 23, and are thus the only people on the planet more uptight than he is.

Karma can be a bitch...

Nu

If Delta does the acquiring, I bet they keep the name. As the General continues to say, the Asian routes can be changed over to Delta's name, just like Canadian and Air Canada did. I think you guys are going to lose out, if they decide to wait on merging the lists until your DC9s are gone and everyone flying them. Yeah, it can be a bitch. Trust me, I know---via Tower Air.

It probably won't matter since the merger talks are about United and Delta. And in that case the UNITED name will stay. NW should go hook up with LCC

That's funny, I think anderson said there were no talks with United, and he said it under oath to a Rep from Georgia at the aviation sub comittee hearing. If he lied, he can go to jail. I think you will see United and Continental together, if Delta buys Northwest that is. Delta has to buy Northwest because most of their employees are non union, and they would be screwed seniority wise otherwise. If DL is the buyer, they can esentially staple the union people, which I doubt they would do but could. The United and Delta talk is essentially over.

Richard sets the record straight on consolidation
November 16, 2007

Richard Anderson responded to media reports earlier in the week that speculated on a possible merger with United Airlines, assuring employees the rumors are entirely false.

“There are currently no discussions going on with any carrier,” he said in his Right from Richard weekly message to employees. “So let’s be clear that there are no ongoing discussions with United Airlines.”
Richard recapped the long-standing position of our Board of Directors, and articulated by Jerry Grinstein, that we would be open to consolidation if it were the best decision for our shareholders and more importantly, our employees.
He repeated that “we are not for sale,” as he said in a memo to employees earlier this week, and reiterated that with our strong financial position and brand we are uniquely situated to control our own destiny.
“As long as I am CEO, there are certain conditions that are not negotiable,” he said. “[The merged carrier] would be named Delta, the headquarters would remain in Atlanta, and the seniority rights of our people would be protected.”
You can call in 24/7 to hear Richard’s complete message at 888-356-3971 or 404-773-7128 internationally.

United/Delta.....WATCH!

Highly doubtful now that Richard has commented against that in front of Congress. But, Heavy Set could be correct, and I have been saying that all along. If they are talking, Richard wouldn't be lying if he decided to BUY a part of United. That isn't merging I don't think. Legal speak is so fun.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Northwest/Southwest merging first of the year!!!!! Wait till Jan08 for the announcement.

Source is a NWA FA(most accurate info u can find), who caddies at some golf course where Douggie golfs with his biz buddies. Word is merger announcement first of the year with Delta. Southwest sounded better and their FAs are hotter. Like Nu said, I preffer CAL to merge with.

"and the seniority rights of our people would be protected.”

Great...staple staple staple..

Not if we are the acquirer. Then, all bets are off for the stews, ground pounders, gate people, etc. The pilots have the same union, so that would have to determine seniority, but not the other groups. I am sure it wouldn't be totally unfair, or there would be a revolt.
